KATHERINE (KAY) SWACK

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, at home with her three children by her side, on May 18, 2020.
Left to mourn her passing are daughters, Yvonne (Tom) Mitchell and Irene (Bob) Wilson, son Terry (Linda) Swack; her greatest pride and joy, her five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Katherine was predeceased by her husband Michael Swack, of 52 years.
Katherine was born January 26, 1924. She was a member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church Women's League and enjoyed bingo and perogy making at the church. She took pride in her gardening and cooking for her family. Together with her husband, she enjoyed travelling and spending time at their cottage in Grand Marais.
Due to Covid-19 regulations, a private family service was held Thursday, May 21, 2020, at Korban Funeral Chapel with interment at Brookside Cemetery following the service with Father Isidore of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Church.
The family expresses sincere thanks to Dr. T. Babick for his special care.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Dear friends, I am so sorry to read of your mother, grandmother and mother-in-law's passing. I was fortunate to see her with you one last time. You were all so lucky to have her for such a long time. Wrap yourselves in each other during this most difficult time of grieving. I empathize with you all to the nth degree. - Posted by: Lana Storey (fried and former neighbour) on: May 26, 2020

  • Terry and Linda, we were so sorry to hear of your mom's passing. We know how vital a woman she was simply by the stories you shared with us of her. We almost felt we knew her. No doubt there will be a void left by her passing. May the good times and memories carry you through this time of mourning. - Posted by: Carol and Rick Crawford (Friends of Terry & Linda) on: May 24, 2020

  • Kay and other ladies baked and made food for my wedding shower in 1968. The Wachniak's are a lovely family and I knew them since I was a teenager as John lived next door to us. Kay was a kind and giving person and will be long missed. My condolences to the family. - Posted by: Gerri (Yurchak) Page (friend) on: May 23, 2020
