GLORIA JEAN KROEKER

Gloria passed away suddenly in her home on February 12, 2020. Born in Winnipeg on May 20, 1945, Gloria was predeceased by her beloved mother Lena and father Jake.
Gloria earned a teaching certificate and went on to complete a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Winnipeg. Her teaching career spanned over 36 years, including positions at Salisbury School, Centennial School and O.V. Jewitt School where she formed the close bonds with her colleagues, including her dear "Veleky Houboos", that would last a lifetime. As a teacher, Gloria developed a passion for working with choral groups and E.S.L. students. She had a green thumb in many aspects of her life. She grew the confidence and abilities of her students, she cultivated meaningful friendships and created a beautiful garden at the home she loved. Gloria's life was enriched by her artistic talent, deep faith, and compassion for others that included co-founding a support group for fellow brain tumor survivors.
Left to mourn Gloria's passing are her Godchildren, her community of faith at Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church and many, many close friends.
In lieu of flowers, please honour Gloria's memory by planting a seed, encouraging a child or saying a heartfelt prayer.
Gloria's interment was at All Saints Cemetery and when large gatherings are permitted, a Mass and a celebration of her life will be held.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Oh, how I miss my Gloria. We were friends from age 13. We walked and talked our way to school and back. We lived on the same street, shared our deepest feelings with each other every day. Gloria had a wonderful voice and we both sang in Holy Eucharist Church. We painted Pysanke together but she was the true artist.Gloria was my maid of honour and the most wonderful godmother for my daughter, Alexis! Such a gentle woman but with enormous strength to undergo two brain surgeries and continue to contribute to the world. Even though our family moved 2 provinces away, our friendship remained strong, Oh Gloria, the Lord saw your suffering and took you home. You are in my heart forever! Vechniya Pamyat ! Rest in Peace my Glo. - Posted by: Christina Bahry (life long friend, started at age 13 and remained strong for over 60 years) on: May 23, 2020
