FRANCES ANNE COWARD
February 27, 1950 - May 28, 2020
She is survived by her husband Don, her sons, Deryk (Aliyah) and Brett (Jen), her grandchildren, Danika, Khalil, Azam and Aahron, her sister Lynne (Bill), and her nieces, Kari (Mark) and Kelsie. She was predeceased by her parents, Bert and Lindy.
Fran stayed home to raise her boys and enjoyed it immensely, going on long walks in the park and taking them to museums and libraries. She later enrolled in nursing school and worked as a nurse at Health Sciences Centre for several years before retiring approximately 20 years ago. In her early retirement years, she spent precious time with her first grandchild, Danika and always had a special bond with her. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her sons and grandchildren. She loved to spend time with them including spending long summers in the backyard swimming. Fran had a passion for travelling, in particular, to England to spend time with her Auntie Jean, Uncle Jim and her many cousins. She loved music and to attend local concerts with her girlfriends. Fran was best known as an avid Coronation Street fan, unwilling to miss a single episode. Fran was known for her great affection for animals, especially dogs.
Donations are not required or expected but can be made to your choice of Animal Shelter or Humane Society.
We will miss you, wife, mom and Amma.
Rest in peace.

I'm so sorry to hear my dear friend Fran passed away on Thursday. She was a high school classmate who became a life-long friend. We had many fun times throughout the years. I will remember Fran as a funny, bright and caring person who loved raising her family. She was happy earning her degree in nursing so she could care for others. Our condolences to you Don and your family. Mary Anne and Barry Shore - Posted by: Mary Anne Shore (Friend) on: May 30, 2020
I got to know Fran on 3 West Children’s Hospital. We worked mostly evenings together. She was so easy going to work with and always had a little extra time to spend with her patients especially the adolescents. I used to tease her that she was just a big adolescent herself! We used to have great talks and a few giggles once patients where sleeping and occasionally would meet together outside of work. After we were both on disability she thought the two of us should go to Barbados to visit our Head Nurse Eddy but there was never a time when we were both healthy enough to go! We figured one of us should be able to assist the other! It’s a big regret for me as we would have had a hoot!!! Miss those times with Fran! - Posted by: Cindy Cheyne (Friend and co-worker on 3 West, Children's Hospital .) on: May 30, 2020

I trained with Fran. There were 4 of us that stayed together from day 1 at the HSC. Fran had a sense of humour that cracked me up daily. She was quiet, intelligent, and I loved her sneakers and granny glasses. We lost track of each other over the years. It was, however, with a deep sadness that I read of her death. Thank you Fran for the support you gave me. Rest In Peace. My condolences to her family. - Posted by: Debbie Smith (Classmate) on: May 30, 2020
I am so sorry to hear of Fran's passing, I had the great opportunity to work with Fran at the Community Services Building then part of Children Hospital of HSC. She was a magnificent nurse and I loved working with her, whose temperament was relaxed, respectful and friendly, she often made me laugh and helped me to gain experience in my new position at work that she did so kindly and professionally. Rest in Peace my dear friend. - Posted by: Jaime Bravo (Co-worker, friend) on: May 30, 2020
We were quite the little group in the early 1960s: Fran, Carol, Colleen, JoAnne, Wendy and myself. We walked the streets of Weston never really going anywhere but having fun nonetheless. We sat through The Beatles movie over and over again (eating sandwiches we brought from home) and then would reenact the movie in the playground. I will hold these dear memories and dear friends close to my heart forever. Sincere condolences to Don and family. - Posted by: Leslie Hemphill (Friend) on: May 30, 2020
