MARLENE VANACHTE

With sadness we announce the passing of Marlene, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt on Sunday, May 31, 2020, at the age of 76 years.
Marlene will be lovingly remembered by her children, Greg (Angela), Pam (Harv), Howard (Tara), Coreen (Vernon); her dear grandchildren, Katlyn (Daniel), Randy (Sheena), Jackie (Clint), Kirsten, Brayden, Dylan; and her precious great-grandchildren. She will also be sadly missed by her sister Bev (Jay), dear friend Sharon and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband David; sisters, Joyce and Irene, and brothers-in-law, Lloyd and Steve.
Marlene married David in 1963 and together they raised four children and resided in the same house in Dugald for the rest of their lives. They especially enjoyed times with family and friends, camping, playing bocce ball and Belgium bowling. Close friends affectionately referred to them as "Pete and Dave". Marlene retired from a lengthy CRA career and then enjoyed more time curling, golfing and travelling. Marlene will be sadly missed by her family, friends and the entire Springfield community.
Thanks to Dr. Ahmed and Tamara at CancerCare Manitoba and all the wonderful staff at Riverview Health Centre.
To join a celebration of Marlene's life on the afternoon of Friday, June 5, outside at the Dugald Community Club, 544 Holland Street in Dugald and to comply with the gathering of 50 people and social distancing, a reservation MUST be made no later than 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 4 by calling Seasons Funeral Chapel 204.444.5444 to schedule a time to attend.

  • When I returned to curling just two years ago, Marlene was my Skip, and was so patient, and encouraging for me to participate, and improve my skills as a third, and as a skip, that I looked forward to every game with a new found joy. She was never at a loss for a joke, or comment that made the time spent with her enjoyable. Sending the family & friends Joy in her life, her love for you, and remember the good times together, and apart - Posted by: Jane Seniw (curling collegue) on: Jun 03, 2020
