THOMAS RODECK
December 23, 1928 - May 29, 2020
Thomas was a loving husband and best friend to Nettie Rodeck. Nettie predeceased Tom in May 2019, after 62 years of marriage. Thomas is survived by one brother, Peter Rubeniuk. Thomas will be missed by his many nieces, nephews, good friends and neighbours.
Thomas was born in the R.M. of Silver Creek, spent his early years at the family farm near Angusville, Manitoba and at the age of 17 he left the farm and made his new home in Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his parents Mary and Wasyl Rodeck.
Tom met Nettie in 1955 while both were working for the T. Eaton Co. They quickly became inseparable and were married in 1956. Not only did they create a loving home together, they both continued working at Eaton's for the next 40 plus years. Tom was a proud Eaton's employee and retired from the position Sales Manager, Men's Wear after 42 years of service.
Tom was a longtime parishioner and active member of St. Joseph's Ukrainian Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and Father Shyshkowich Council. He and his good friend Matt Stebeletski were a team that continuously did volunteer work on behalf of both the church and the council. Thomas was a tireless volunteer and never hesitated to offer assistance.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff at Lions Manor, Holy Family Nursing Home, and the St. Boniface General Hospital.
Donations in Thomas's memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
Given the current pandemic restrictions a service will not be held at the parish. Liturgy will be celebrated at the Glen Eden Funeral Home and Cemetery, with Father Dymtro Dnistrian officiating. Interment will follow at Glen Eden Memorial Cemetery.

Uncle Tommy was one of my favourite people and with Aunty Nettie by his side, there wasn’t anything they couldn’t do. My boys loved going over to their place every Christmas for Chinese food and to celebrate his birthday and memories of him at the farm growing up make me smile. You will be missed Uncle Tommy. ~Memory Eternal~ - Posted by: Lenora Vincent (Wusaty) (Niece) on: Jun 10, 2020

Uncle Tommy was a distinguished man of great humanity and humility. He never forgot where he came from. Was always an example of virtue and family. Honest beyond reproach. I can never recall an angry or bad word ever leaving his mouth. He liked his cars and enjoyed his food. Especially prime rib that was “fork tender” and steak “that thick”. The mourning of his loss is compounded by the COVID-19 restrictions that prevent our travel into Manitoba to honour him one more time. We’ve lost a truly great man. - Posted by: Tom & Jean Makichuk (Nephew & Niece, Kanata, Ontario) on: Jun 06, 2020
