VICTOIRE (VICKY) STEFKOVIC
January 16, 1943 - June 2, 2020
Vicky was the embodiment of generosity and kindness. She leaves behind John, her husband of 60 years; beloved daughters, Gladys (Maynard), Grace (Douglas) and Phyllis (Garth); grandchildren, Danielle, Bradley, Amanda and Kelly; and three great-grandchildren, Quintin, Wrenn and Brandi. Vicky's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a great source of joy to her and she delighted in spending time with them. She also leaves behind two brothers, two sisters, and many nieces and nephews.
Vicky was predeceased by her son-in-law Maynard, brothers, Armand, Arthur, baby Emile, Odias, Gerald, Edmond; and sisters, Hermine and Anita.
Vicky was married at 16 years old to John and began farming alongside his parents to develop prize winning registered Holsteins. Their cattle would go on to win Grand Champion and many other awards of excellence. They knew many of their cows by name and pedigree and were very proud of their standing in the shows. Together, Vicky and John overcame adversity and rebuilt their farm after the destruction of most of their prized herd in 1999 due to a barn fire.
In her later years, Vicky relished in fishing, including catching several master angler fish and participating in several local wildlife clubs. She delighted in going to the cottage which she considered her "happy place". Vicky also enjoyed making puzzles and knitting - making over 170 pairs of socks for family and friends.
A special thank you to Dr. Wong, Dr. Beshara, and the staff at CancerCare in St. Boniface Hospital and Health Sciences Centre for their care. We would also like to thank her many friends for their help and kindness during her illness.
Due to the current restrictions with Covid-19, a private family funeral service will take place. When restrictions are lifted, a Celebration of Life will be announced at a future date.
In lieu in flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association or CancerCare Manitoba.

Condolences & Memories (7 entries)
Offering my deepest sympathies to Uncle John, Gladys, Grace and Phillis and their families and the Manaigre Families. I fondly remember going to their farm with my mom and dad and siblings and being spoiled rotten by her and Uncle John. Tons of candy and munchies and sodas. Grandma Manaigre came with us too so it was a good party, something I'll never forget. May God Bless You All during these difficult times. I send heartfelt condolences to Vicky's family. I understand their sadness as they grieve their loss. i was fortunate to have met Vickie through my sister-in-law Anne. We enjoyed going to many Fall suppers over the years. I so enjoyed the company of Vicky and her sister-in-law, Margaret, over many long rides to Pansy and other communities to share a sumptuous meal on many a Sunday afternoon in late September and early October. I enjoyed learning about her life on the farm and her love of fishing. I wonder how many pairs of socks she knitted over the course of her lifetime! Vicky truly had a rich and happy life. The family can take comfort in all the memories she leaves behind. Sincerely, Shirley Augustine - Posted by: Shirley Augustine (Met through the Augustine family who were neighbours of Vicky and John) on: Jun 06, 2020
My condolences to the family on the passing of Mrs. Stefkovic. As a kid visiting Phyllis at the farm, I remember her as a hard working, hands-on partner with her husband John in the yard, the gardens and the fields. She was a strong woman, equal to the task and rightfully proud of her farm and her family. May your memories inspire you and bring you comfort. - Posted by: Monica Ptak (from a neighbouring farm family) on: Jun 06, 2020
