It is with great sadness we announce the death of our beloved child Erryn Renee, at the tender age of 26.
In a short life Erryn trusted people they encountered to a fault and tried to help those around them whenever need appeared. Erryn faced many struggles right from birth, including mental health challenges and addiction. It didn't help that our current world is not welcoming to two-spirit people. For Erryn, that meant struggling to find ways to live in community that would not be judged by others. Acceptance was his quest. Erryn loved music and dance. Lady Gaga lived inside a body that did not look like her at all and constantly struggled to get out. Erryn is now free to be, in the welcoming arms of a Creator who loves us all.
Erryn is survived by his parents, Don and Shelley Schau; three sisters, Deanna (Chris), Laura (John), and Crystal; grandfather Rod White, five nieces and nephews, and five aunts and uncles. In his short life he suffered the loss of three grandparents and two great-grandparents.
Erryn has been cremated and, according to his wishes, will be buried with his grandmother, Gloria.
A private, family only service is planned for Saturday, June 13, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. If others wish to attend they may do so via Zoom:
Flowers gratefully declined. If you wish, a donation in his memory may be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association, the Rainbow Resource Centre, Transcona Memorial United Church or Atlantic-Garden City United Church.

  • Erryn was such a beautiful soul... Nothing but the biggest of smiles on their face at all times and never seemingly worse for wear despite their constant trials in life. Such a powerful and huge voice too, if you'd ever been graced with a chance to hear them sing. Rest easy, my good friend. - Posted by: Zacharias McGhee (Friend) on: Jun 30, 2020

  • I am so sorry for you loss. I had the wonderful opportunity to spend time with Erryn during their time at Vincent Massey. As an EA I was able to spend time talking and laughing with Erryn in the halls (and trying to encourage them to “go to class”) lol. I will miss their smile, big heart, great sense of humour and let’s not forget great sense of fashion. Erryn was great at critiquing my choice of style....... Rest In Peace Erryn - Posted by: Bev (Friend. ) on: Jun 15, 2020

  • Love, Hugs and Support to the Schau/White family. Erryn will forever hold a special place in my heart, many happy memories from family dinners, BBQs and park visits from my youth. They never forgot a face and was always the first to shout "hi" and give a big hug when random run-ins around Winnipeg occurred. Erryn had a presence about them that shone bright and the memories of which will not fade. I hope your happy memories bring some form of peace during this difficult time. - Posted by: Amanda Bibeau (Family Friend) on: Jun 12, 2020

  • I had the pleasure of meeting Erryn only once a few years ago during dinner theatre. They were a joyful whirlwind that could not help but make one smile. My heart weeps for the pain you are all feeling over their leaving Mother Earth to travel the skies with Grandmother Moon. God Creator has now placed Erryn on a new path for continuing their journey where they will carry in their hearts the teachings and enormous love you always gave to them. May this thought comfort and support you. - Posted by: Diana-Lynn Barry Petrash (Church Friend) on: Jun 11, 2020

  • So sorry for your loss! I knew him as Dylan and loved him for who he was in elementary school. Erryn always possessed a positive and vibrant personality. Loved music and our musicals. Possessed a sweet kindness and compassion for others, and still managed to get everyone’s attention with a good laugh. My heart breaks for the struggles that came but know family and friends loved through it. May he Rest In Peace In the arms of his Saviour. ❤️ - Posted by: Mme Courtney (Teacher) on: Jun 10, 2020

  • I am devastated to hear of Erryn’s passing. The lessons they have left on my heart are ones I’ve carried with me for the past 15 years. I am so glad I was surprised with a greeting in the St. Vital mall nearly 12 years ago when an excited, yet somehow familiar voice called, “Mme Alyssa!” in the foyer as I was leaving with my first born. I was thrilled to introduce him to one of my very first students. Know that I think of Erryn often and that your family is in my thoughts at this very difficult time. I pray Erryn’s spirit now shines freely and they are at peace.💕 - Posted by: Alyssa Harder (Grade 5 & 6 teacher) on: Jun 10, 2020

  • To Erryn's Family: I am very sorry for your loss! Although I did not know Erryn personally, I would often see her in the Village area, or at the Dollar Store, or just walking around. Although, I could see she struggled with mental health issues, she was also a vibrant personality. May she now rest in peace! Alie - Posted by: Alie (Community Neighbour) on: Jun 10, 2020
