DENIS ARTHUR DURAND
January 4, 1925 - May 20, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Denis Durand (Dad / Pepère) on May 20, 2020, at the age of 95.
Denis was born and raised on the family farm in Lorette, Manitoba. The love he had for farming was evident in the way he tended with pride to his farm and vegetable garden. It was through delivering eggs to the Dumont family that he met his future wife Laurette. They shared 60 wonderful years together.
He embodied love, respect, loyalty and humility. His work ethic, commitment to family and his easygoing personality was inspiring to others. He always took the time to greet everyone he crossed paths with; a trip to the mailbox or grain elevator could take several hours. He loved reminiscing and sharing stories with friends and family.
Denis was predeceased by his wife Laurette, his parents, his brother Georges, nine sisters-in-law and seven brothers-in-law, as well as two great-grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Denise, Janine (Gilles) and Simone (Jacques); nine grandchildren, Sean (Samantha), Leanne (Matt), Sheldon, Jason (Breanne), Miguel (Jenna), Milaine (Cameron), Monique (Eric), Chantal (Mike), Justice (Nyssa); eleven great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, as well as many friends.
A private Funeral Mass will be held at a later date.
We would like to extend a special thank you to the employees at Hôpital Sainte Anne, Dr. Delaquis and the nurses for their kindness and exceptional care.
The family would also like to thank Dr. Christopher Matthews for his many years of care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind Foundation at 1080 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3G 3M3.
