(nee TARASENKO)
June 15, 1946 - June 8, 2020
It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of Judi. She passed away at home with her husband David by her side with her sister Jan, and David's daughters, Darlene and Denise.
Judi and her twin sister Jan were born June 15, 1946, in Winnipeg. Her formative years were spent in Steinbach.
She took LPN training and then RN training. She went on to work in a Steinbach clinic, then at Lion's Manor in Winnipeg working well with the elderly, training nursing staff on a new computer system, in charge of infectious disease, and then as Director of Nursing.
Judi had a special gift for working with the elderly. She said they have so much to teach us.
Judi enjoyed world wide holidays over the years.
Once married in 1978, Judi developed wonderful cooking skills. Everybody invited to Judi's and David's home felt welcomed, cared for and always well fed.
Judi showed her thoughtfulness for others with her notes of cheer, thanks, congratulations, and thinking of you. Her words were heartfelt and eloquent.
Her thoughtfulness and compassion were boundless.
She enjoyed digging in the dirt to see what would grow for her. She inherited this trait from her Dad. Her flowers and the backyard were beautiful. The gazebo was Judi's happy place.
Above all else Judi treasured her family. She loved us, advocated for us, consoled us, encouraged us, and cheered for us. Judi was a perfect gift.
She will be missed beyond words.
She was predeceased by her parents, Alex and Helen Tarasenko. She is survived by her sisters, Janice and Beverly; husband David; David's daughters, Denise Antosh (Dennis), Darlene Bromley (Tim); the grandchildren, Ryan, Dylan, Vanessa, and a great-grandchild Alexa.
God saw you getting tired
And a cure was not to be
So He put His arms around you
And whispered "Come to me."
With tearful eyes we watched you
As you slowly slipped away
And though we loved you dearly
We couldn't make you stay.
Your golden heart stopped beating
Your tired hands put to rest
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.
There are things we do not want to happen,
but have to accept, things we don't want to
know, but have to learn, and people we
can't live without , but have to let go.
"Safe in the Arm of Jesus"
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Judi's life will be held at a later date.

My heart aches upon hearing the news of Judi's passing. She was my favourite client and we shared many giggles, heartfelt talks, and political discussions. She was both classy and sassy! I will miss her kind, compassionate, intelligent, witty soul. She brought light into every room she entered, brightened everyone's days and provided hope, inspiration and help to so many people, including myself. She was a beautiful human being that I am very lucky to have known and her absence will definitely be felt in my life. My deepest condolences to David, Jan and the rest of her family and friends. She spoke of you all so often and so proudly that I know you were very loved by that beautiful angel while she was here. - Posted by: Carol Cusson (Friend) on: Dec 10, 2020

We'd met back in 1971, so nearly half a century ago, in Oahu, Hawaii at some little restaurant. Acknowledging eavesdropping on each other's conversations, was the start of one of my most precious friendships. Pen pals at first, then email. We shared so very much through the decades. Judi's tenderness, personality and quirky expressions, her wisdom, counsel and joyous ways, always lifted me up. She was the greatest "sounding board" and would leave no question unanswered. I'd be anxious to share stories that she'd find interesting or humorous, eager to get her reaction. We had a big appetite for each other's news. Definitely one of the most caring, sharing people I'd ever known, Judi was so very kind and thoughtful. Always. How I miss our exchanges. My first memory of Judi is reading Archie comics in her bedroom in Steinbach (comics which were forbidden in my household), when I was a kid. I will miss Judi’s sporadic insertions of Plattdeutsch words into our conversations and her crazy laugh!! Carry on, Judi!! - Posted by: Marlene Stoesz (Friend) on: Jun 13, 2020
