GEOFFREY GEORGE FRANK BRESCH

On Thursday, June 4, 2020, Geoffrey George Frank Bresch passed away, at home in Penticton, BC, with his beloved wife Linda and daughter Gillian by his side.
Geoff was born on January 15, 1953 in Winnipeg, MB. He received his Computer Analyst/Programmer diploma at Red River College in 1975. Geoff held many positions in the Information Technology industry in Winnipeg throughout his life: at Red River College as an Instructor; at Stewart N King; at Market Driven Training Centre (a one-time affiliate of Red River College); and as a lecturer for the CGA and CMA programs to name a few. One of Geoff's proudest moments was when he was bestowed an honorary CGA designation in November 2013. Geoff loved being a dad and doted on his grandchildren. When Geoff reconnected with his childhood friend Linda in 2001, the two quickly became inseparable and got married on November 24, 2002.
Geoff was predeceased by his parents, George and Mary, as well as his brother Michael. He is survived by his wife Linda; children, Gillian (George), Donald (Ingrid), and Megan (Daryl); stepchildren, Wes Miller and Tony Miller (Tanya); grandchildren, Eric, Hannah, Astrid, Chance, Katrina, Beckett, Landon, Andreas and Mila; sister-in-law Brenda; and niece and nephew, Andrew and Lauren.
Geoff was a very charismatic and friendly person. He would introduce himself as a "rocker" first and foremost, declaring that working in IT was just his day job. You couldn't go anywhere with Geoff and not meet someone he knew. He would go out of his way to help countless numbers of people in different ways: he would be an ear to those experiencing hardship; provide career advice and professional opportunities; and if you ever needed a guitarist, he was your guy.
Geoff was an emotional, sensitive man with a low tolerance for BS and a very twisted sense of humour (his words). Personally and professionally he had a knack for telling things as they were and was willing to put in the work to make projects succeed. He felt genuine concern for others and had a way about him that made each person feel special. Geoff wanted everyone to feel that they were truly loved by him. He loved to travel, fish, boat, go to the lake with his pals, play music, and spend time with his cherished family and numerous friends.
The family would like to extend our thanks to the South Okanagan Home Support Team who cared for Geoff like he was their own loved one. The palliative nurses: Carrie, Rhonda, Christie and Shery - thank you for your guidance, patience and support. And finally, we would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Wendy Richardson for taking such good care of Geoff, and making his wishes to spend his final days at home possible. Your visits always gave him an extra bit of pep when he needed it most.
There will be a memorial service held in Winnipeg when all near and far can gather together to celebrate Geoff's life after COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Diabetes Canada, or Canadian Cancer Society.

  • "Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Others stay for a while, leave footprints on our hearts and we are never, ever, the same." Flavia Geoff was one of those people in our lives. He left footprints all over our hearts and lives. How lucky we were to be able to call him FRIEND. We share your sorrow but know that he will always have a cherished place in our hearts. Sending you, his family lots of love. Glen & Val - Posted by: Val & Glen Bergeron (friends) on: Jun 16, 2020

  • Geoff was a great instructor in my portfolio in Continuing Education at RRC. He was always so helpful, personable and such a nice person. When he called me and said he was finally going to retire-retire; in true Geoff fashion, he offered to stick it out until I found another instructor and to assist them if they had questions about the course content he designed. He was one of a kind. Thank you for sharing him with us for one evening a week for so many years. Deepest condolences on your heartbreaking loss. ~Melissa Fontaine - Posted by: Melissa Fontaine (Former co-worker) on: Jun 16, 2020
