Passed away: June 9, 2020

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of John Mers Delaney senior, who passed away just shy of reaching his 98th birthday.
John will be deeply missed by his three children, Joanne (Doug) Smoley, Gary and John, three grandchildren, Greg, Daniel and Kimberly, great-granddaughter Summer, and many nieces and nephews.
John was predeceased by his amazing wife Alice, his parents, Harry and Pauline Dolyny of Teulon, MB, brothers, Alex (Therese) of Teulon, Orest (Del) Delaney (Lila) of Toronto, nephew Gerry, and Stan (Edith) of Fort Francis.
John was born in Teulon, Manitoba where he excelled at school and sports. He was a top student, excellent hockey player, pitched soft ball for many Winnipeg teams and bowled. He was employed with the CPR for 42 years.
John was a man of exceptional self-taught talents ranging from completely renovating the family home to fixing anything that broke. He was an inventor and a problem solver. Like his father before him he had the green thumb and his garden was always a great sense of pride.
John never missed a Jets or Bomber game and for that matter any sport that was on TV. He knew every player and all their stats.
He loved his family dearly and we adored him. He will be greatly missed but the millions of treasured memories we were able to share with him will be treasured.
Thank you so much to The Waverley and The Rosewood for the wonderful care our parents received there in their later years.
