ALICE FORTIER
(nee BOUCHARD)

It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother on June 6, 2020.
Alice was born in Fisher Branch, MB on December 23, 1929. She will be sadly missed by her children: Ken (Elke), Karen (Bernie), Margaret (John) and Brian (Linda), her 10 grandchildren: Geoffrey, Cory, Laureen, Christine, Kerri, Matthew, Cameron, Madeline, Stephen and Carlie, and her six great-grandchildren: Joshua, Casey, Cali, Ryleigh, Noah and Léa who greeted her in heaven. She will also be missed by her sister Eva (Norbert), and sister-in-law Annette Bouchard. Also left to cherish her memory are her many nieces, nephews, dear friends and her extended Fortier family. She was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Maria, husband Norbert, and siblings: Marie, Irene, Armand, Theresa, Lucille, Roland, Jeannette, Margaret and Gerry.
Alice enjoyed music which included playing the organ and dancing. Some of her hobbies were bowling, watching curling and playing cards with family and friends. Her greatest joy was spending quality time with her family.
The last gathering was her surprise 90th birthday party which brought tears of joy to her eyes when she saw her family there to celebrate.
The family would like to thank the staff at Health Sciences Centre and Misericordia Hospital for their support and compassion. A special thank you to Yvette (Alice's stepdaughter) for helping the family communicate with her during the pandemic.
Due to Covid-19 there will be no formal service. A celebration of her life and burial will be held for the immediate family at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Rest in peace Mom
You will be forever missed
but always in our hearts

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • I had the pleasure of meeting Alice a few years ago when I was doing Homecare for her dear friend Roland Marion. We spent many mornings and evenings visiting while she came to spend time with Roland. Alice was such a sweet lady and I am so glad I met her. I was so sorry to hear of her passing when I bumped into her Grandson today. Sending my very deepest sympathies to all of her family. - Posted by: Leslie Candy (Friend) on: Aug 21, 2020

  • Alice was such a sweet lady and the only grandma my kids knew from my side of the family. I loved her gentle kindness and her sense of humour. She will be missed by all of us! - Posted by: Cec (Step daughter ) on: Jun 24, 2020

  • Our deepest sympathy to all of her children and grandchildren for the loss of their dear Mother. She was a beautiful lady. We loved her very much. She will be missed by many. But she is now in a better place, no more suffering and is with all of her family. Rest in peace Aunty Alice. - Posted by: Lorraine and Sonney Pinnock (Niece) on: Jun 21, 2020

  • We would like to offer our condolences on the passing of your mother. John has many memories dating back to the farm days. Just before we were married, John could not prove that he had been baptized and so had to be baptized again and Alice kindly agreed to be. - Posted by: John and Marian Busilla (Brother in law ) on: Jun 20, 2020

  • Condolences to my cousins Ken, Karen, Margaret, Brian and their families! I have great memories shared within our families and will always remember my Aunt Alice very fondly! So tough to lose a matriarch of a family, but I know the memories you all share will help to decimate your grief! Rest peacefully Aunty Alice! - Posted by: Wayne Busilla (Nephew) on: Jun 20, 2020
