SHARON ANNE FIDLER
1944 - 2020
She was predeceased by her parents, Mel and Frances Fidler; and her sister Carol Chartrand. She is survived by her brother-in-law Dave (Ellen) of Oak Point, nephew Cory (Suzi) of Inwood and niece Myrna of Winnipeg.
Sharon was a stubborn woman who lived life under her own terms. She had an interesting sense of humour and definitely strongly opinionated. She told it like it was and as much as she could dish it out, she also could take it. She cared greatly for her nephew and niece and would take them for weeks on summer holidays and tour around Winnipeg taking in events. Sharon had a great love for travel and did many solo trips before taking her niece on a few US trips. She enjoyed picking out unique souvenirs from all the travels and also wanting souvenirs from everyone else's travels. She was very particular in what she wanted brought back to her though. Besides travel, another of Sharon's passions was crafts. Ceramics and paper tole were among the most popular, but she did many crafts for the holidays as well. Sharon was a collector of sorts. From coin collections, newspaper articles, craft supplies, jewelry to wrestling memorabilia. She had a great fondness for history and family trees. She could tell stories and go on for hours about people we had never even heard of before. Bingo and casino trips were also high on the list of things she loved to do.
Once she moved into the nursing home in 2018, Sharon kept up with the recreational activities they provided such as bingo, musical events, crafts, manicures and dog visits. It turns out much to the surprise of her family that she was actually an avid dog lover.
The family would like to thank the nurses at the nursing home for the care they gave Sharon during her time there.
Following Sharon's wishes, cremation has already taken place and a graveside memorial service will be held at Stonewall Cemetery.
