WAYNE GORDON ARNOLD

Wayne was born September 11, 1947 and passed away from a broken heart on August 29, 2019. He had two great loves; his dear wife Peggy, and music. They met when he was still in his teens and it was love at first sight. Together they were part of the band called The V.I.P.s, then he joined The Deverons and recorded a couple of singles. He was an accomplished musician who loved to sing until the end. After the band life, they owned a few businesses like "The Age of Aquarius"and "Arnold Hallmark Cards". He also helped Peggy, who was a successful real estate agent, to renovate and upgrade houses. They enjoyed spending time in the winter in Las Vegas. They were inseparable and devoted to each other until Peggy's passing in November of 2014.
We take comfort in knowing that both Uncle Wayne and Auntie Peggy are together again. He leaves behind his brother Brian, as well as nieces and nephews.
Their final resting place is at Chapel Lawn Cemetery, 4000 Portage Avenue, in the Lasting Tribute Chapel.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I was the drummer in the VIP'S along with Wayne & Peggy. We had great times together. - Posted by: Barry Newcombe (Fellow band member... V I P's) on: Feb 04, 2022

  • Wayne and I had a small band called The Radians back around 1964 before he went on to join Peggy Shane and the Belaires, later the Vips. I know he went on to join the Deverons after Burton Cummings left and I was quite proud to know him. We lost touch for many years and had just re-established a connection a few years ago. We had fun sharing some of the new music together via Youtube and realized that music wasn't quite dead yet! I meant to get back to Winnipeg to see him, but unfortunately left it too late. My thoughts are with him and his nieces and nephews. - Posted by: Adrian Charman (School friend at Daniel MacIntyre Collegiate) on: Jul 06, 2020
