MURIEL JEAN SCOTT
Surviving are her nephew Patrick (Marjorie) Ellison and niece Liz (Wes) Rempel; her great-nephews, David Ellison and Adam (Sarah) Von Niessen, her great-niece Jenn Ellison, and her great-great-nephews, William and Alex Von Niessen. Muriel was predeceased by her parents and her sister Evelyn Ellison.
Muriel was born in Portage la Prairie, MB and spent the first 10 years of her life on the family farm, moving then to Portage la Prairie. After finishing high school in Portage during the Second World War, she started her first job at #7 AOS, an observer training school outside of Portage. She always spoke with great fondness of her work there and her contribution to the "war effort". This was followed by many moves and many new jobs and experiences, working for CN Express, then TCA (which later became Air Canada) at various locations across Canada, retiring from Air Canada in 1983 with 30 years service as an assistant to the president of Air Canada. After her retirement from Air Canada, she did contract work with the airline and then worked as a senior's tour guide with Age and Opportunity in Manitoba.
Muriel was a world traveller and visited places most only dreamed of. She loved to tell the stories of her travels and all the interesting people she met and things she did. She loved her times at Delta Beach with her cousins and their families enjoying the lake life, the memories and the beautiful sunsets.
In 2007, Muriel decided to utilize her flair for writing and storytelling, she joined a senior's writing group and wrote a book, "Stories of a Lifetime", full of stories from her early childhood to her retirement years, chronicling her life, well-lived. This was one of her proudest achievements.
Muriel was a huge part of her sister's family and was very close to her nephew and niece and their families. She was Auntie Muriel to all of them and many other children as well. Her favourite times were spent with her family, who she loved dearly and she was the cherished "Auntie".
Muriel lived out her "golden years" in Winnipeg, living on her own and then moving into Kiwanis Courts and the last year at Tuxedo Villa. She was plagued by chronic illness over the last few years and the family would like to thank the staff at Kiwanis Courts and at Tuxedo Villa for their kind and compassionate care over the last years.
At Muriel's request, there will be no funeral, interment will be with her parents in Saskatoon.
Donations may be made in Muriel's memory to Canadian Cancer Society.

Our sincere sympathies to Muriel's family. Our family had the chance to meet your auntie at Kiwanis Court when our parents moved into Kiwanis. She became a special friend to our mom while our mom lived at Kiwanis. We always enjoyed having a conversation with Muriel, her humour and her interesting current and past stories. Sincerely the Wood (and Skrumeda) family. - Posted by: Janice Skrumeda (Daughter of Doug and Sadie Wood) on: Jul 04, 2020
