PATRICIA SOPHIE BOURNS
(nee MALANIUK)
1935 - 2020
She was predeceased by her husband, Howard (2006) and her sister, Phyllis Keller (2008). Patricia leaves to mourn her only child Robert and his wife Diane, grandchildren, Megan and Brendan, her sister Pauline Joiner and her children, Greg and Cheryl, her sister Elaine Matikka and her son Jason, her sister Phyllis' husband Frank Keller and his children, Chris, Charlene, Loretta, Richard, and Andrea, as well as friends both here and afar.
Patricia, also affectionately known as "Grandma Pants", was born in Russell, MB in September of 1935. She lived on the family farm and then moved to Rossburn at a young age where she began attending school. Always a hard worker, she entered the workforce at 15 with the local Co-op before moving to the TD Bank, which then transferred her to Winnipeg. It was there she met Howard and soon after they married in 1958. Howard's job took them to Thunder Bay then back to Winnipeg, out to Saskatoon and down to Regina where their son Robert was born. After a brief return to Winnipeg they then moved to London, ON, where Patricia started her own small business venture, Pat's Bookkeeping Services. In 1979, they returned to Winnipeg to be closer to family. It was here in 1981 that her husband, Howard suffered a stroke, thrusting Patricia into the role of caregiver. It was a role which she accepted and excelled at for the next 25 years until Howard's passing in 2006. During that period, they moved from Winnipeg to Darlingford and then on to Morden. In 2010, Patricia made her final move to Winnipeg to be closer to her immediate family. Asked how she felt about all the moving, she was keen to respond that she enjoyed it; she found people and how they lived to be interesting. Patricia was a homemaker and a wife first and the home she kept was always warm and welcoming to all. A gracious host, she supported her husband's career while finding joy in attending to her "Little Family" and, also serving her bookkeeping clients. She loved golf and fishing, and trips out shopping or eating out in restaurants.
She was a great wife, sister, friend, mother, and grandmother. She put others first and was always a rock of positivity, comfort, and common sense.
Her "Little Family" already misses
her dearly and forever will.
God bless you Patricia Sophie Bourns.

Dear Rob, Diane, Megan and Brendan - so sorry to hear about the loss of your mother Rob. Certainly she was so devoted to your dad, and having the opportunity to have her family and grandchildren nearer to her in her move (her words have inspired me to see my next move down the line as an adventure), was certainly comforting. I hope you are able to find some time to commemorate her life in a way that celebrates her contributions and devotion to family. - Posted by: Mona-Lynne Ayotte (Firend) on: Jul 04, 2020
