November 15, 1955 - July 3, 2020

With heavy hearts we regret to announce the sudden passing of John Thor Thorvaldson, on July 3, 2020, at the age of 64.
He will be dearly missed by his wife Gail, stepson Mitchell (Amanda), daughter Samantha (Duane), and son James (Jessica). Cherished grandfather to Kaden, Savannah, Oliver and Lady.
John is survived by his sister Janice (Lloyd) and brothers, Gerald (Joyce) and Erik; mother-in-law Marlene; and sisters-in-law, Maxine (Brian), Laurie and Brenda (Rod). Numerous family and friends will miss his sparkling wit and vast knowledge of everything.
John was a man of many hats, but his main trade was as an electrician; John brought "light" into everyone's lives as well as joy and relaxation at his RV park, Blue Water, in Pine Falls, Manitoba. John loved to travel and was pleased to be able to see a lot of the world; escaping the cold of Winnipeg winters with Gail was a treasured luxury he enjoyed. John would get swooped away by Gail on trips with a destination he couldn't remember, as there were often too many booked for him to keep track of! Known for his tilly hat and quiet smiles, John could have you in stitches with a dry witted comment at any time. John had an absolutely incredible vocabulary; the only word he didn't know was "no". His generosity knew no bounds and he provided to all he knew in abundance. John was extremely giving and helped many begin their careers in trades so that they could have the best chance in life possible. John will be very missed by all who knew him.

It's not goodbye, it's until we meet again.
All of our love to you John. "Good today"

A graveside service will be held at Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame Avenue, on Friday, July 17, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. Please meet inside the main cemetery gates. Due to COVID-19 Public Health Guidelines, we ask everyone to please respect and adhere to physical distancing requirements.

  • My sincerest sympathy to Gail and family - it is such a tragedy when a loved one is taken so unexpectedly. Seems like just the other day that John was busy tackling and crossing off jobs on the “honey do” list at that Park. There are no words at a time like this that can ease your sorrow, but may it help to know that there are others that share your pain and your love of John. - Posted by: Sheree Manchulenko (Friend) on: Jul 11, 2020

  • Our condolences to you and your family. John was such a quiet gentle man and even though he was a man of few words he had a tremendous amount of love to give. We will always remember our turtle release adventure in Puerto Vallarta where Dennis and John got to know one another a little more. Although he is physically gone his presence will live on in many different ways. A beautiful sunset, a certain song or just that feeling he is with you. You will know it when you see it or feel it. He is with you, be sure of that. - Posted by: Dennis and Kelly Golembiski (Friends) on: Jul 04, 2020
