After a long and happy life filled with love and laughter, Sheila passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side.
She was predeceased by her husband Bud in 1997, and is survived by her eight children, Donald, Glen, David, Jim, Janice, Lynda, Maureen, Diane, their spouses and families. Sheila was blessed with 25 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren of whom she was so proud and loved so much. She is also survived by her best friend and sister, Barb Stankey, and brother Bob Ferguson. Sheila and Bud were longtime residents of Charleswood where they raised their large family.
Sheila was a strong, independent, selfless woman who had an amazing outlook on life and always made the best of every situation. She was never materialistic, always optimistic and cared deeply about her family and friends. She was the best, most supportive Mother anyone could ask for, we were so blessed.
Sheila was very active her entire life and walking was her favourite pastime. She put on more miles than anyone we know and pushed herself to keep walking every day right up until the day she passed. Though the past few months were difficult due to Covid-19 restrictions, she continued to be optimistic and gave us the strength we needed to keep going.
Sheila lovingly looked after her husband Bud for many years as he struggled with ill health. She was the best wife and Mother and was so loved. She had a beautiful, determined spirit that we will miss forever.
As we loved her, so we miss her.
Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

So deeply sorry to hear of your great loss, your whole family is well remembered. From Carol, Brenda, Jim and Garnet Ward - Posted by: Carol Ward (Family Freind) on: Aug 09, 2020
My condolences to all of the family. I grew up and went to school with the kids. It's hard to lose our moms especially with our dads gone too. It is a loss of an era. Our histories go with them. We miss them so much but remember so many happy times and all the love we shared. My heart goes out to you at this sad time. But we have all our memories to look back on and smiles to share. You are in my thoughts. Be well. - Posted by: Barb Tanner (nee Baggott) (Friend of the family ) on: Jul 22, 2020
To the Brodies and extended families, we hope that in the coming days you find peace of mind and heart in the memories that you have of Mrs. Brodie (I am still unable to call her Shiela :) I remember as I waited for my best fried Lynda to walk to school, Mrs. Brodie packing all those lunches and wrapping sandwiches and baked goodies in wax paper that I believe you may have all had to re-use. She often gave me a piece of whatever baking was being doled out .....I'm not sure if that was intentional or if she just lost count in the lunch assembly line. LOL. We lived across the street on Princeton Blvd. and between us we were quite a gang of kids of all ages. Fun times and memories. Rest now Mrs. Brodie. Sheila was our neighbour during my childhood in Charleswood. Even though Sheila and Bud had 8 children they always had time to include and take an interest in the neighbourhood kids. I also had the good fortune to babysit the younger girls. Sheila and my Mom also maintained a friendship throughout their life and until Mom's passing - 4 days before her 100th Birthday, Sheila, like my Mom, was a wonderful role model and I have valued our conversations and visits over the years, Sheila was always interested in my activities and she was proudly able to keep me informed about all the kids and grandkids activities, Avi also enjoyed visiting with Sheila when he had his shop in the Mall as she always had a smile and positive greeting. We send our sincere condolences to all the family, Barbara (Collett) and Avi Shumeley - Posted by: Barbara and Avi Shumeley (Friends) on: Jul 13, 2020
