ADELE KOST
(nee CHARNEY)

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Adele into God's open and welcoming arms on July 6, 2020.
She is survived and will be deeply missed by her daughter Debbie (Vince); her sons, Rob (Chris), Greg (Susan), and Dave (Dena); and her beloved grandchildren, Kimberly (Peter) and Mark (Laura), Meagan and Aaron, Marisa and Kiera, Matthew and Andrew. She was the most amazing 'Grammies' to her three great-grandchildren, Olivia, Emily, and Hannah.
She is predeceased by her sister Evangeline (2018) and her husband Casey (1984).
Mom was born and raised in Whitemouth, Manitoba where her family farmed and built their home. Her father died at an early age and Mom and her family left the farm to live in Winnipeg. She worked various jobs in the textile industry until she met her husband. They married in August 1954 and raised their four children while building their family home in Winnipeg and cottage in Falcon Lake. Mom's greatest joy was having Sunday dinners with the whole family where we enjoyed her passions for cooking and baking.
Mom was very faithful and devoted to her church community and the CWL. She was always ready and willing to lend a hand wherever needed.
The family would love to extend their heartfelt thanks to the many doctors and nurses of 4S Unit 2 at the Grace Hospital, that made Mom's final days very comfortable. Also a big thank you to Mom's home care workers who every day would check on her morning and night to make sure she was safe.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John Cantius Church, Tuesday, July 14. Interment will take place at Holy Ghost Cemetery on Main Street. Due to COVID-19 restrictions of no more than 50 people indoors, only invited family and friends may attend the church service.

  • Adele, Auntie Adele, was loved by her Saskatoon family relatives. She was a big part of our lives growing up especially during the summers. The Winnipeg Kost family and the Saskatoon Kost family would alternate summer vacations between Manitoba and Saskatchewan. We have fond memories of spending time on Burrows Avenue and Falcon Lake where auntie Adele would make sure we felt special by greeting us with her big beautiful smile and warm bear hugs. Then we'd go into the house to enjoy her home cooked Ukrainian meals and delicious baking. We will always have wonderful memories of an our aunt and sister-in-law, Adele who was loved and gave love. Our deepest condolences to Debbie, Robbie, Greg, David and their families. With love and friendship, The Kost Family, Sasakatoon - Posted by: The Kost Family from Saskatoon (Family) on: Jul 12, 2020

  • My mom and Adele were long time friends from the Elma and Whitemouth area. Just talked to Adele a while back, she told me how they liked going out for chips at Connie's in the late forties. I was planning to come over for coffee again. Please accept my condolences. - Posted by: john evan (genevieve evan {my mom} and adele were long time buds) on: Jul 11, 2020
