DOROTHY M. PARTRIDGE

In her 93rd year of life, Dorothy Mary Partridge (nee Thom) of Winnipeg, died peacefully on July 14, 2020.
Born near Claudy, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland on November 15, 1927, Dorothy came to Canada in 1951 to visit an uncle in Melita, Manitoba. There she met and married the local school principal, Robert Richard (Dick) Partridge, and happily made Canada her home. Together, they resided in Russell, Virden, Winnipegosis and Souris before moving to Winnipeg in 1975.
Preceded in death by her loving husband Dick, her parents, Joseph and Mina Thom, her sister Gladys, and her brother Harold, Dorothy is survived by her sisters, Maude Simpson of Dungiven and Alice Higgins of Antrim, Northern Ireland, son Durwin Partridge (Cathy) of Thousand Oaks, CA, daughter Deborah Cleere (Scott) of San Luis Obispo, CA and daughter Donna Partridge (Rick Erickson) of Vancouver, BC, along with beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. Dorothy leaves four grandchildren who cherish her memory, Jeremy and Noah Cleere, Robert and Kate Partridge.
A community-minded person with an exemplary work ethic, a deep faith and a desire to be of service, Dorothy volunteered for many organizations including Souris Hillcrest Museum, the Canadian Cancer Society, her political party and Westwood Presbyterian Church. She was a former Worthy Matron in the Order of the Eastern Star and remained a member until her demise, almost 70 years. More recently, she put her skills to use knitting mittens for the Christmas Cheer Board and blankets for the Humane Society. Gifted with a beautiful voice and a musical ear, Dorothy enjoyed church choir and family sing-alongs, often with Dick at the piano. She will be missed for her charm, faithful letter-writing, sharp wit, kind words and her knack for story-telling.
The family is grateful to Dr. Gillian Breckman and to Dorothy's home care workers for their tender care and support.
Interment and memorial service details will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dorothy's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society or the Canadian Cancer Society.

Life's race well run. Life's work well done.
