LESTER ZEVIT

With sadness we announce the death of Lester Sherwin Zevit, of Saanichton, British Columbia, aged 81. Lester was born to Rose and Aaron Zevit in Winnipeg, Manitoba August 13, 1939, married Sheila (daughter of Maurice and Elizabeth Jacobson) October 12, 1958, and died July 20, 2020.
A graduate of St. John's Technical High School in Winnipeg, Les joined his parents at Zenith Photo and later moved on to Winnipeg Photo. In 1970, with their two children Shawn and Pamela in tow, they moved to Toronto, and later Calgary where Les continued in photofinishing as a manager, a profession he would work at for over 50 years.
In the fall of 1993, when Les was invited to take a management position in the burgeoning London Drugs Photofinishing Department in Victoria, BC, serving in a variety of locations over the subsequent 25 years, working until his late 70s. He was a mentor to many staff, who themselves became managers with his guidance.
Les leaves behind his wife, Sheila of Saanichton, son Shawn and daughter-in-law Simcha, both rabbis in Philadelphia, PA, and daughter Pamela, a biodiversity environmental professional in Coquitlam, BC. His sister, Estelle Paul predeceased him in 2002. His nephews and nieces, cousins, extended family and many friends across the ages and in many places all hold many vibrant memories of Les.
Lester will be interred at 11:00 a.m. Pacific Time, Friday, July 24 at a graveside funeral at Hatley Memorial Gardens, Victoria, BC.
