FRANCES DEBBIE-LOU HUTCHINGS
December 8, 1953 - January 4, 2020
She was born in Winnipeg and grew up in Charleswood, youngest child of our late parents, Allan and Elsie Hutchings.
Debbie was a beauty, an athlete, a warrior, an independent, joyous, battle-scarred woman.
She is survived by her siblings, Mary, Bobby (Glyniss) and Allan (Linda); their children, Carol, Aaron (Amber), Rebecca (Dave), Meg (Jon) and Ainsley (Jeremy); their grandchildren, Emily, Elizabeth, James, Jack, Finn, Derek, Jeremy and Rosie; cousins and friends.
Interment has taken place and Debbie rests in a quiet garden by a pool of water lilies.
Donations to addictions research or treatment would be appreciated.
We love you, our green-eyed girl.

Debbie came to my shop in Vancouver from a program to get women back in the workforce. Her spirit filled the building. In the beginning, she worked two, 4 hour days and her wages were subsidized. When the program ended, I could not let her leave. She was so very special and I loved her so much. We were a small garage and she started by cleaning the shop, stopping anyone who went to empty the garbages by saying "what are you doing, those are my teeth". She quickly started helping with parts ordering and even though the computer was a bit intimidating at first it wasn't long and she had it mastered. She spoke often of her family, I asked if I could contact them. I am so thankful for having known her. I will forever love you Deb - Posted by: Sandy Spicer (Friend) on: Sep 01, 2021

Debbie was a wonderful person. I haven’t seen her in years but she still left a lasting impression upon me about how kind fun and wonderful she was. Even though it’s been many years it’s with great sadness to hear her passing. I’m lost for words to express how sad I think this is. She will always live within my heart as a very warm light. Love you Debbie xx Holly - Posted by: Holly Dale (Friend) on: Aug 07, 2020

I met Debbie in 1980 and became instant friends with her. We hung out in Toronto in the early 1980s and had plenty of good times. She was a beautiful person and a rock solid friend. I looked for her several times after we lost contact and could never find her. I’m sorry to hear she has passed. My condolences to her family and friends. - Posted by: Janis Cole (Friend) on: Jul 31, 2020

I have a very vivid memory of Debbie and me giggling our way through a piano duet at Mts. Moody’s annual student recital. I’m sure our parents weren’t thrilled with our performance but it remains a happy memory for me just the same. Debbie was fun of beans. She had a spark that made it fun to be around her. My sister Donna and I send our deepest condolences to the Hutchins family. - Posted by: Darlene (Grapko) Gyles (Friend ) on: Jul 30, 2020

I remember Debbie (Licorice as she was known to us) as a girl who was full of life and very fiesty. I met Debbie thru her brothers, Bob and Al, who I was very good friends with. She was so full of life and never refused an adventure. Although I hadn't seen or spoken to her in many years, I'm so sorry she had to leave us so young. Wherever she is you can bet she's kickin a** and taking names. Fly high Deb.💔 - Posted by: Frances McQuiggin (Old Friend) on: Jul 29, 2020
