Mum was born in Winnipeg, MB on March 23, 1932. As a child, her family moved several times, finally settling in Fairford, MB where she grew up. In 1950 she married dad, they bought a farm in the Faulkner area and started their journey of 55 years together. In 2001 Mum and Dad moved to Ashern. After Dad's passing in 2005, Mum moved to Winnipeg and resided at the Kiwanis Courts.
Mum was a teacher and she taught in several small rural schools. She was always involved in the community, organizing fundraisers, sitting on many boards and committees throughout her life. Mum was a faithful member of the Lutheran Church, singing in the choir, leading the ladies group, teaching Sunday School and Confirmation.
Mum's hands were always busy knitting or crocheting. She knit many pairs of mitts, hats and sweaters for the Cheer Board. She made afghans for grandchildren and mitts for great -grandchildren.
In keeping with Mum's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service honouring her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 in the Good Hope Cemetery, Faulkner, MB with Pastor Nancy Walker officiating. If you wish to be comfortable and require a chair, please feel free to bring one.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mum's memory to the Good Hope Cemetery, c/o Colin Brown, PO Box 8, Moosehorn, MB, R0C 2E0 or to the Messiah Lutheran Church, 400 Rouge Road, Winnipeg, MB, R3K 1K3.
Our family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Ward 3 South at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg who cared for our Mom so well during her brief stay there.
