April 9, 1948 - July 21, 2020

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Louis Comte at the age of 72. He passed peacefully surrounded by his family on July 21, 2020, after a very brief but brave battle with cancer.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Donna; children, Rhonda (Bryan) and Leanne, as well as four beautiful grandchildren, Taylor, Carter, Paige and Christian, as well as many sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews.
Louis was born on April 9, 1948 in Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba to Jean-Baptiste and Germaine Comte. He married the love of his life Donna Rybachok on May 22, 1971.
They lived in Grande Pointe Manitoba for 31 years in the home they built. Dad retired from his career in the trucking industry in 2013.
Louis will forever be remembered as a loving devoted husband, father and grandfather. He had an admirable work ethic, was a proud blood donor and volunteered in many capacities throughout his life. At the time of his death he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a dedicated member of the St. Emile Catholic Church and the President of the Tenants Association in his seniors' complex. Louis is known for his love of family, love of sports, card playing and a sense of humour that touched everyone he met. He is well known as the "Grandpa, #1 Fan" at his grandchildren's events.
A private family Mass will be celebrated for Louis with interment following at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens.
The family wishes to extend their love and appreciation for all of the support they received from family and friends. Special thanks to the Palliative Care Program and Riverview Health Care Centre for the outstanding support and care they were able to provide.

Condolences & Memories (11 entries)

  • Hi. I’m Alfred (Freddie) and Annette’s daughter. I have been very blessed to have reconnected with cousin Louis only since April. When we were younger we visited at great tante Germain’s and great oncle Jean-Baptist’s. Reconnecting with a family member from our child hood years was such a treasure. Louis’ sense of humour made me laugh and smile. To have somebody help a person have a good day is a special quality. I loved reading his posts. Last night I read more again and made me smile some again and more. I didn’t know Louis was sick. Bless his soul for his gift. My sincere and heartfelt sympathies to you Donna and your family. - Posted by: Monique De Mare - Grenier (Cousin ) on: Aug 06, 2020

  • I worked with Louis for many years at Kindersley Transport. In fact he was the one that greeted me at the door when I came for my interview. I admired his great work ethic and dedication to the company. He always attended and helped with company bbq's, Christmas parties, pot lucks and picnics with great enthusiasm. He was very proud and loved his family very much as he talked about them often. Even after retirement Louis never forgot co-workers and if in the area always stopped by with Donna to say hello. My deepest and sincere sympathy on your loss. Thoughts and prayers are with you and may all your cherished memories comfort you in this difficult time Gloria Pongracz.
