DARRELL DENNIS REID

Darrell passed away July 24, 2020, at home in Nanaimo.
He is sadly missed by his wife Gail, of 60 years, daughters, Tanis and Shelley and husband Brent, grandsons, Gabe and Guillaume Choinière, sister Leota, brother-in- law Wayne and wife Dianna, nephew Galen, great-nephews, Mac and Zander, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Jimmy and Pearl, sister Vonda, and brothers-in-law, Robert and Ivan.
Darrell was born January 11, 1939, and raised in Elgin, Manitoba. He married Gail Wilson July 16, 1960, and moved to Brandon and then to Winnipeg. Darrell and Gail settled in Charleswood where they made many lifelong friends. He made a career as an instructor at Red River College for 34 years. Darrell was kind and caring with a great sense of humour and lived life to the fullest. He loved to build, fix and create things. He also loved sports, music and travel. He would load the truck, turn on the radio and hit the road. He could be headed to Lake Metegoshe with a load of lumber for the cottage he was building, or the RV might be hooked up for a road trip to favourite spots in Arizona and South Padre Island, Texas. He looked forward to travelling from Ontario to Alberta as a vendor in the Signatures Art and Craft Shows. Darrell's favourite sport was baseball and was an avid Jays fan. He played fastball in the Charleswood Mens League at Roblin Park and was always up for a cool one with the team at the Charleswood Hotel after the game. Curling was another favourite. He was a member of the Charleswood Curling Club for many years. Darrell and Gail moved to Nanaimo in 2015 where he enjoyed the weather, ocean, walks along the harbour and participating as vendors in the farmers markets in Nanaimo, Chemainus and Qualicum Beach. Darrell loved his family. We loved him. He will be missed and forever in our hearts.
As per his request there will be no service.
