VIRGINIA MURIEL DAVIS

It is was profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Virginia Muriel Davis, on July 22, 2020.
She will be lovingly remembered by her two sons, Andy and Jeff, and three grandchildren, Chris, Matthew and Joshua (JJ). Virginia was predeceased by her husband Gordon in 2019. She was also predeceased by her parents, Anne and Stephan Danchuk, three sisters, Ollie (Shred), Stephanie (Heaney), and Julia (Maybank) and one brother Nestor.
Virginia was born in West Kildonan on September 19, 1928 and spent her entire childhood on Smithfield Avenue. After graduating from St. John's High School in 1946 and a year at St. Boniface Nursing School, Virginia began to work at the Canadian Wheat Board where she met her future husband. They were married on June 4, 1949. Virginia and Gord lived in a few different residences in the early years of their marriage before moving to 360 Dunbeath Ave. in East Kildonan. This became their home for the next 58 years.
Virginia was a loving, stay-at-home mom who always put her family first. She was also active in bowling, curling, golf and made many lasting friendships through the years at Rossmere Country Club. Virginia was an avid gardener who took great pride in maintaining her yard and garden. She was also an excellent seamstress who would sew dresses, the kids' winter coats, drapes or anything else that was needed by her family. Virginia thoroughly enjoyed cooking and the family enjoyed unforgettable family dinners for many years. Virginia enjoyed many summers at Falcon Lake with Gord and her boys. As our families grew, the trips would include summer trips with the grandchildren as well. "Nanny was an amazing grandmother and will always be remembered with much love by her grandchildren.
We wish to thank Golden Links Personal Care Home for their care and compassion to both Virginia and Gord over the last few years of their lives.
Virginia was deeply religious and her strong faith in God was evident in the way she lived her life. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A graveside service for Gordon and Virginia will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Glen Eden Cemetery, 4477 Main Street, West St. Paul, MB.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Virginia's memory to Diabetes Canada.
