FLORENCE SPRULES
(nee BODNARESKO)

After a brief and unexpected illness, it is with deep sadness that we announce that Florence Sprules (nee Bodnaresko) passed away on July 24, 2020, in Winnipeg.
She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Husband Keith, daughter Kelly (Lance) and sons, Trevor and Rodney (Joanne) will lovingly remember the many years and laughter that they were able to share with her. She will be missed greatly by her sister Victoria and her nephews, nieces and many cousins whether they were directly related or not.
Flo was born in Regina in 1938 where she lived until she moved to Winnipeg to begin her nurse training at St. Boniface General Hospital. Flo made many lifelong friendships, meeting Keith through her classmate and his cousin, Linda. Flo and Keith fell in love and were married in Regina in 1963. While still working at St. Boniface, she had Kelly. They moved to Crestview in the late 1960s in preparation of a growing family where Trevor was born and then Rodney a few years later. Flo spent her nursing career at Grace General Hospital and was there until her retirement.
Flo enjoyed spending time with family and friends, going out for dinner or just visiting. Even while working, she found time to take care of family and attend her kids' activities. She encouraged her children to be independent and strong and follow their dreams, even if it meant living in another city. She enjoyed her volunteer "job" for several years at the St. James Senior Centre. Summers were spent camping, then at Beauty Bay and finally at Hillside Beach.
Flo was a great friend to all. She was the first one to offer help or take care of others, always thinking and putting others before herself. There was always family, friends, neighbours and kids at her home and she was known for her amazing cooking. At all times, there was more than enough to eat and room at the table to welcome and include those around.
Her love, compassion, friendship and support will be missed by so many.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home due to COVID-19 restrictions. We encourage all who knew her to take a moment to share a memory and a smile.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter or Kidney Foundation of Canada, Manitoba.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Flo was the first person to welcome us to the neighbourhood when we moved to Danbury Bay. Her daughter Kelly was the same age as my first son Craig. Over the years, she was a person that I could talk to & I valued her friendship. She & her family are in my thoughts. Diane Kelly - Posted by: Diane Kelly (friend & neighbour) on: Aug 04, 2020
