MICHELE (MIKE) NARDELLA
Dad is survived by his wife of 56 years, Margaret, daughter Janet (Dan), son Andrew (Karen) and his four grandsons, Dustin (Sarah), Dylan, Marshall and Joseph.
Dad was born in Civita, Italy in 1932. He came to Canada as a young man in 1951 and settled in Winnipeg. He was joined over time by his three brothers and his mother and father, and made fast friends with many. At a YMCA dance after his arrival, he met and soon married Margaret Wray. Mike found employment at CP Rail and worked there for many years.
Even after retirement, Dad was the hardest worker we knew. He would start working in early morning and not stop until nightfall. Dad loved being outside. He spent countless hours tending to his garden and looking after the yard. He especially enjoyed spending time at the cottage in Ponemah, Manitoba. He would walk for hours along the beach enjoying the quiet surroundings. He spent considerable time chatting with his many friends and neighbours.
Dad was always at his happiest with his grandsons and his patience with them was unlimited. He was in his element when they were with him at the house or cottage. Wheelbarrow rides and bonfires were his specialty. Mike let the boys explore and take part in whatever activity they wanted to do. Many bicycle jumps were built, marshmallows were roasted, long walks were taken and fish were caught from the shores of Lake Winnipeg.
A memorial service will be held at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at 10:00 a.m.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)
I was sad to hear that Mike has passed. He was a great neighbour and friend to us in Ponemah. For sure he was a hard worker, many times I would be nervous when I saw him on the roof of the cottage, busy cleaning out his eavesdropping! He was a so helpful to George at times, and often they would go for walks around the neighbourhood. My thoughts are with Janet and Andrew, and the grandsons. My love and care to my lovely friend Margaret from Pat - Posted by: Pat Moore (Neighbours at Ponemah) on: Aug 04, 2020
