Peacefully, Marion passed away with the love of her family surrounding her.
Marion was employed with the Hudson's Bay Company starting in a clerical role and proudly retiring as a Customs Broker. She especially enjoyed singing with her colleagues in the Bay Choir.
Marion married the love of her life, Jim, in 1951. They had a passion for entertaining, which led to their famous parties filled with lots of food, dancing and laughter into the wee hours. Their happiest memories were spent around their pool with friends, family and especially their grandchildren.
Marion's passion was photography. She was never without her camera. She captured the joys and celebrations of family and friends, and left behind an archive of photographs for us to cherish.
Marion's generosity came from her lean years as a child which led to opening her heart and her home to all. The people she encountered in her life were enriched by meeting her. She will always be remembered for the twinkle in her blue eyes and her beautiful smile. Marion had the best sense of humour, and a zest for life. She was witty, charming and elegant. Marion truly had a Heart of Gold and was our Angel on Earth. We were so Blessed!
Marion will be lovingly remembered by her son Garry (Darcy), Reid (Jacqueline) and Ryan (Alycia); son Danny, Brandice (Andrew) and Kirsten (Ryan); and daughter Barbara, Chloe (Stephen) and great-granddaughter Annika. Marion is also survived by her beloved sister Mary, and family; many in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.

"You were an Angel in the shape of our Mom
When we fell down,
you would be there holding us up
Spread your Wings as you go
And when God takes you back,
we will say Hallelujah
You are Home!"

And Dad will say, "What took you so long?!"

Due to Covid, there will be no service. A private family interment will be held at a later date.

  • My deepest condolences to the entire family on the passing of "Mrs. Smith". I have so many fond memories spent at the house with Mr. & Mrs. Smith. My daughter Jennifer and I were always made to feel welcome and included in family gatherings. Hours spent at the pool are some of our best memories. Mrs. Smith's meals were the best! Jennifer and I still have many of her recipes and when we prepare one we often reminisce about those times so many years ago. I was fortunate to meet up with Mrs. Smith (who insisted I call her Marion) in recent months at her residence. I would have known that smile anywhere! She was truly a special person. - Posted by: Carol Martin (Friend) on: Aug 02, 2020

  • That is a beautiful picture and captures completely the joy she brought to every day and every person. I have been lucky enough to have her as my aunt and have a lifetime of happy memories. You were always welcome at Aunty Marion's and Uncle Jimmy's (or Uncle Yiminy to me!), no matter the day or time and treated like royalty. Best. Aunt. Ever. she will forever be in my heart. - Posted by: Marlaine (Neice) on: Aug 02, 2020
