GARNET WILFRED BURDEN
1936 - 2020
Along with his wife of 60 years, Judy, he will be greatly missed by his son Calvin (Karen), grandson Cameron; daughter Dawn Campbell and grandchildren, Cody and Taylor; great-granddaughter Kayleigh; stepsons, Kenneth and Russell (Erica) Salmon; brothers, Roger and Gordon (Pat) along with numerous brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews and friends.
Garnet was a man of many talents, but his wisdom, storytelling, sense of humour and love of life were his greatest. He had many adventures in his life, but his most treasured are the summer family trips, especially the ones that he and Judy took with their three grandkids.
Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held.

Garnet, I am so sorry that I couldn't get to the area sooner. I learned of your passing today (Sept 8, 2020) and I am moving to Manitoba from Alberta in October. I had every intention of finally meeting you and showing you more pictures and videos of your sister, Nina, my grandma. She spoke highly of you and wished she could've met you again all these years. Her last year was the most prominent, she would always say "I should call Garnet, I keep forgetting...this silly mind of mine." As you knew, she passed away 19 July 2020, so now you two can reconnect up there. I loved hearing her stories of the past, despite some being not so lovely, but she always had a soft spot and a place in her heart for you, Roger, and Gordon. When she went to a home, we made sure the picture of you 3 gentlemen were displayed front and center where she could see you and sometimes it would remind her to call you. I never got to meet Garnet and his family but was told so many wonderful things by my mother. I am glad I got to speak with him after my mom passed and was sad to hear of his diagnoses. He was so kind to me in the short conversations we had. Condolences to all his family and friends. I am so incredibly sorry and will hold in my heart many fond memories of times together. Listening to a song about a dog named Sue and having a drink with Sam. How he loved coming out to help on ‘chicken days’ and we had the best laughs as we cleaned chickens. He always got the chicken livers to take home. I loved watching Judy and him dance because man, could they dance. How we laughed when he called me a pit bull with lipstick. He was the greatest story teller and I loved to hear about Roger, Gordon and his time growing up with my mom and Audrey. He was so amazing with grandma and mom - it was very obvious the love that was shared between them. What I loved most about Uncle Garnet was he wore his big ol’ heart on his sleeve and was a total marshmallow. My deepest and heartfelt condolences. - Posted by: Carol (Family ) on: Aug 08, 2020

Garnet was" one of a kind " with a large heart. Growing up with Garnet as I did I saw a person that loved life and his multitude of friends. He was exceptional toward my Mother on Ferry Rd. where they would sit and simply talk. During your teenage years a book could be written.
