RUTH LILY EBBELING
(nee DOMKE)
May 6, 1929 - August 3, 2020

Peacefully on Monday, August 3, 2020, Ruth Ebbeling passed away at the Health Sciences Centre. Ruth had a strong Christian faith and is now reunited with her family in heaven. She will be sadly missed by family and friends.
Ruth will be deeply missed by her children, Lori (Sudesh), Patricia (Nicholas) and Robert (Barbara); grandchildren, Sarah, Alexander, Laura, Steven, Matthew, Bryan and Aleksander; and great-grandchildren, Rebekah and Aaron. Ruth is predeceased by her parents, Otto and Louise Domke, her husband Reginald, and her brother Oscar.
Born in Libau, Manitoba, Ruth attended Libau West School and Happy Thought School (East Selkirk), then went on to graduate from United College (University of Winnipeg) in 1947. She received her Registered Laboratory Science degree in 1950 from the General Hospital (Health Sciences Centre). Ruth worked as a Laboratory Technologist at Cadham Lab, Grace Hospital, Health Sciences Centre and the Drake Medical Centre. She met her husband Reginald, who worked in the Health Sciences Centre Pharmacy. Ruth enjoyed travelling overseas with her husband Reg and reconnecting with relatives outside of Canada. Many wonderful summers were spent at Caddy Lake enjoying nature and many gatherings of family and friends. Ruth was a passionate painter and spent many enjoyable hours with fellow painting group friends. She enjoyed many other ladies groups and was an enthusiastic bridge player. Ruth had a quick wit, playful nature, and good sense of humour. Ruth treasured time spent with family and friends for dinner and events. Ruth had great pride in and loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren dearly.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to all the home care workers as well as the staff of B3 and H Medicine at the Health Sciences Centre for the care they provided and all their kindness and support.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or to Beautiful Saviour Lutheran Church, Winnipeg.
A private service for family and friends will be held.
