(ELSIE) ELIZABETH LITWIN
Elsie was predeceased by her son Michael, parents, Dan and Emily Chrusch, sisters, May, Kay, Anne, Mary, Helen and Connie, brothers, Paul, Peter, Dennis and Richard.
Left to cherish her memory are her grandson Blain and his mother Shelly (Greg), nephew Richard (Ann), sisters, Jeanie, Julie (Ray) and Emily, brothers, Frank (Christine), Gary (Grace), numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Elsie was born and raised on the family farm in Stead, MB. She attended school in Stead and later moved to Winnipeg. In the early 1970s Elsie moved to Gimli with her family. She worked at Saunders Aircraft then at Gimli Betel as a cook for 30 years. After her retirement Elsie had no intention of slowing down and she started cleaning for seniors for the next 10 years.
Elsie was a fun loving, kind, generous soul and everyone who met her loved her. She could lift one's spirits just with her beautiful smile. She loved to spoil her grandson and spending time with him gave her tremendous joy. Elsie was a true caregiver, she would take care of you when you were sick, injured or recovering from a big operation. She was hard working and loved to cook and entertain. If you were lucky enough to attend one of Elsie's dinners or parties you sure never left hungry. Elsie loved to curl and was active in mixed curling and with the ladies league for years and one of her favourite things to do was watch curling on TV. Elsie also loved to garden whether it was vegetables or flowers. She spent hours in the garden at Shelly's and took pride in her flower gardens at home. Another of Elsie's favourite things to do was to meet with her friends for coffee and chat.
We would like to thank the staff and volunteers at Gimli Betel for the excellent care Elsie received this past year. Elsie was very happy there and had nothing but good things to say about everyone there. We would also like to thank the staff at Gimli Hospital for their compassion and care for Elsie. A special thank you to Betty for going above and beyond for Elsie, we truly appreciate everything you did.
A private family interment will be held sometime in the next few weeks and a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
Condolences may be left on her tribute wall at www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
