It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and Afi. Fridjon was born on July 25, 1938 at the family home (Lundi) in Hnausa, MB, and passed on August 7, 2020 while in care in Selkirk.
Fridjon is survived by the love of his life, Bernice. Together they were happily married for over 54 years. He is also survived by his children whom he adored, Krista (Cal) and Jodine; and his beautiful grandchildren, Ryder, Lilla, and Kingston. His face lit up every time they were around, and it touched his heart greatly to have them in his life.
Family was Fridjon's number one priority. He deeply loved his parents, brothers and sisters, and his nieces and nephews. He is survived by siblings, Thorunn, Helga (Bob), Kristine, Hildur, Wilfred (Carol), Stefan; and brother-in-law, Wayne Hutchinson.
Fridjon was predeceased by his parents, Villi and Gerda; siblings, Sveinn (Hazel), Jorunn (Thor), Alda (Doug), Vilborg; and in-laws, Joe, Cecil, Yvonne, and Peter.
Even through his struggles in the last years, he was always joyful to see Bene's face. No man could love and honour his wife as much as he did. Together with their family, they built their lives in Winnipeg, and built their dream cabin in Hnausa. Many happy years were spent surrounded by family and friends, and the many beloved animals that filled his heart with happiness.
Fridjon was a hardworking man. At the age of 15 he was already commercial fishing with his Dad, and these were special times to him. He spent over 50 years in construction, the majority of that time with Taillieu Construction, retiring at the age of 75. Fridjon was extremely proud of his Icelandic heritage, and his trip to Iceland was the ultimate celebration of a lifetime of hard work.
The family would like to thank the Area 4 staff in Selkirk for their extraordinary care.
Following a private graveside service, which will be held on August 29, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hnausa Cemetery, the immediate family will gather at the cabin to celebrate Fridjon's life.
