  • I remember the first time we met. We went out for supper with the kids and just knowing your Matthew, I knew I would hit it off with you. You and Helmet have raised two wonderful sons, and one of them we call our son-in-law I am so happy that we had this short period of time together to enjoy your family and celebrate what family meant to you. We shared a lot of the same values and today I thank God for you. My prayer was to have you send some kind of sign to say that you are okay, and you know what, I saw this beautiful blue jay outside our trailer window at Luther Village. Thank you my friend. It was hard watching your earthly tent deteriorate but you fought the fight and now we know because of your strong faith you are watching from above. We will keep your memories alive with Lenni and the next baby that will be arriving in January 2021. Helmet, Andrew, Matthew, and Sarah (and of course our Lenni) my heart aches for you and I pray to God that with time, this will become easier for you. We will never forget our Helen. We want you to know that our house will be your house for gatherings and celebrations. Fly our Angel we love you. - Posted by: Elaine Patricia Gelhorn (Friend, mother-in-law to our Sarah and Babba to our Lenni) on: Aug 20, 2020

  • My sincere condolences to Helen's family. I haven't seen her in decades, but I met her in the late 70's and had the pleasure of knowing her when we worked at Burns. Our little night crew was pretty close and I was even at her wedding. She was one of the most funny and kindest people I had ever met. May she rest in peace. - Posted by: Laura Kurdydyk (Former co-worker) on: Aug 18, 2020

  • She was a very kind Person, I’ll always remember before Christmas, she would have my 2 boys Jaremy And Joshua over for crafts. They made amazing gifts. My condolences to the family! - Posted by: Jocelyne Robert Pancoe (Friend) on: Aug 13, 2020

  • I knew Helen for over 17 years working alongside her at BWS. Her smile, the twinkle in her eyes and her beautiful and gentle soul drew me in. She loved working with children and was so proud of her sons. She was thrilled when Matt and Sarah got married and loved Lenni, her dog Tina and hubby Helmut. She enjoyed her time at Gimli and working at Veselka Camp. I loved painting with her and our special visits. She was like a sister. She was a gentle, kind and caring person. She was an angel on earth and I miss her so much. I will never forget her love and kindness and for Matt adopting my puppy! Vichnaya Pamiat dear Helen. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you now and always! - Posted by: Carla Bobychuk (Friend and co-worker) on: Aug 12, 2020

  • So sad to hear of Helen's passing. I know she dearly loved you all so much as she spoke so fondly of you all at work. Even when she couldnt work any more, she still brightened the halls of our school on her visits and made a deep, personal connections with everyone she knew. Helmut Adam, and Matthew, your wife and mom touched my heart and Im glad to have been her friend through some tough times. • Too many memories, too short a life. To a very dear friend whom I shared many secrets, played jokes on co workers with. Halya was the one that helped me do a family book and every time I pick up my book I think of her and the many hours we spent composing it . Late into the night, Gord would bring dessert and coffee to us in the computer room. Neither of us had a sister so we had adopted one another as the sister. What a pleasure to have known such a beautiful, loving lady. I know her family is going to miss her but I am glad her suffering is over. May she Rest In Peace. Fly with the angels Halya until we meet again. Love u dear friend. Gord and Judy Wach - Posted by: Gord and Judy wach (Friend) on: Aug 11, 2020

  • Helen will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her family and many many friends. As neighbors we witnessed how strong and courageous Helen was throughout her lengthy battle with cancer. Always smiling and never wanting to accept help. Although Helen is now resting in peace and her suffering is over, our thoughts are with the family as they are mourning their loss. - Posted by: Gary and Evelyn (Neighbors ) on: Aug 11, 2020
