MARIE JANET FOX
(nee MAYERS)
October 5, 1941 - August 5, 2020

With sadness we announce that our dear mum and gram has gone to meet the Lord.
Marie leaves to celebrate a life dedicated to family, love, faith and service, her children, Bonnie (late Mark), Larry, Blair (Katherine) and Linda (Chris), grandchildren, Steve, Carlie, Ryan and Mira, and many friends.
Marie was a strong, independent woman of deep, abiding faith. From raising her family, to nursing patients and clients, to volunteering in her communities, Marie approached everything she did with integrity, compassion and generosity. An adventurous cook and baker, Marie delighted in celebrating occasions with family and friends; no one went hungry and no one ever had the same delicious and imaginative birthday cake twice.
She had a gift for making everyone she met feel special, through thoughtful notes and remembrances, attentive and lively conversation, lending a hand, running errands, or accompanying friends to appointments. Simply, she served.
We will miss her, but are secure and comforted in the certainty that she is with her Lord, Jesus Christ.
Service Friday, August 14, 2:00 p.m., New Life Sanctuary Church, 618 Muriel St. Limit 100 Persons. Streaming:

Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • It was a long time ago I met her. I knew her to be strong and independent and compassionate in life. She loved her children dearly and did everything to ensure they were happy. Our paths crossed many times through out the years and I always respected her for who she was. I am sad to learn she is no longer with us. I will however remember her and her family fondly. - Posted by: Gordon Barth (Someone that knew her a long time ago) on: Mar 09, 2021

  • My sincere condolences to Marie’s family on her passing. Marie & I worked together at Health Canada from a distance. I in Saskatoon & Marie in Winnipeg. She became a terrific & close friend who had wonderful listening skills & a quirky personality that matched my own. We had so many good times and laughs together, even if it was over the phone. Marie was a wonderful caring role model and support for me. She loved her family, (both genetic & not), more than anything. Marie will live on in the WonderFilled memories & Joy brought that we hold of Her in our hearts. • I meet Marie when she first moved into Fred Douglas Place. I was hosting the welcome teas and we became acquainted at hers. She eventually took that job over from me and did a wonderful job of welcoming new residents to the building. Marie cared about people. She never hesitated to help anyone that needed her assistance. She was always kind and understanding towards me and we really enjoyed going out for a coffee & gooey cinnamon bun! She willing game her time to her church, the mission she volunteered at and always made time to lend an ear to anyone that needed to talk. She will be missed at Fred Douglas Place and I will miss her terribly. Even though she always made time for others her family was the most important thing in her life. Marie was a little lady with a big heart and a determination I have rarely seen in others. Nothing kept her down for long. My sincere condolence to her family. - Posted by: CHRIS MILLOY (Friend) on: Aug 16, 2020

  • I knew Marie for close to 20 years. She was a good friend and I will miss her very much. For many years I was part of the "Lunch Gang" after church services. I had many a great conversations with her. We went shopping a lot and had many dinners, lunches out and her helping me move. I was shocked to hear of her passing. I talked to her about 2 weeks ago about my up coming Retirement and we were to get together to celebrate. I was sorry when she left Faith Bible Church and hope she found what she was looking for at her new church. Marie was very generous with her time helping elderly people get around and with Union Gospel Mission and she was so strong in her faith. I offer my condolences to the family. May God give you peace and hope. - Posted by: Carol Dennis (Friend) on: Aug 12, 2020
