THOMAS STEFAN MARTIN PARTRIDGE
July 10, 1935 - July 20, 2020
Born in Selkirk, Manitoba he leaves his grieving wife of 65 years, Mary (Joa), his four sons, Fred (Laura), Bill (Grete), Howard, Eric (Michele), and grandchildren, Melissa, Thomas, Eve and Olivia.
In 1967 Martin decided that the future lay in British Columbia, so he quit the Manitoba Rolling Mills and left for the West Coast in the family station wagon, with a travel trailer and a dream. Once there he built the new family home on 140th Street in Surrey.
A nurturer at heart he loved to grow things. For a few years he operated a small greenhouse business on his property selling the best tasting tomatoes and cucumbers.
His final working years were at St Michele's Wines and Grantham Foods where he was well respected in his trade as a Machinist.
Upon retirement Martin and Mary travelled extensively throughout Canada and the U.S., accompanied by their cockapoo Mickey.
Visiting Europe and Asia, Martin commented that he had seen more places in the world than he could have ever imagined, yet his special love was for Iceland, his maternal ancestral homeland.
Martin was always willing to lend a hand and had faith and trust in people.
He loved family history and enjoyed talking about families, friends and neighbours back in Manitoba. He had an amazing memory for names and places and stayed in touch with friends and families by email, with a cup of coffee always nearby.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ted and Dorothy Partridge, his brother Sandy, and by his faithful companion Mickey.
