EVELYN MARY MCMAHON
(SIMS)

Peacefully passed away after a brief illness on August 10, 2020, at the Selkirk Hospital.
Evelyn was 93 years of age, born on January 27, 1927, to Robert and Gladys Sims of Erinview, Manitoba, and currently a resident of Lions Manor in Stonewall, Manitoba.
Surviving to mourn her loss are her daughter, Marilyn Ross (Jim); sons, Wayne (Yvonne), Brian (Sue) and Darrell; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. As well, she will be missed by her sister, Amy Dellebuur; and brother, Fred Sims (Carmen).
She was predeceased by her husband, Henry McMahon, in 1998 after 50 years of marriage. She was also predeceased by her grandson, J.J. Ross; and great-granddaughter Kori-Ann Stewart; sisters, Francis Unger and Elsie Tronrud; and brother Ed Sims.
Family was everything to Evelyn, and she surely doted on her grandchildren. Family gatherings were very important to her, from camping trips at the lake, travelling together, or dinners at her place. It seemed every Sunday was dinner at her house. She loved to cook and bake, and excelled at both. Her butter tarts were to die for, and its been said she could make shoe leather taste like filet mignon; she was that exceptional of a cook. She also enjoyed gardening (great green thumb), and was a sports fan, especially enjoying watching baseball and curling.
We would like to thank all the personnel at the Selkirk Hospital, her home care workers, friends at Lions Manor for all the support and care they provided for her.
In keeping with Evelyn's wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no formal funeral, and a private family gathering and interment will take place at a later date.
If friends so desire, they may make a donation to a charity of their choice in remembrance of Evelyn.

It was nice to get off the farm and be in the city going to 7-eleven and have a slurpee. My condolences to her family at this time of loss.
