Condolences & Memories (8 entries)

  • I had to get carpel tunnel surgery done in my 30's. I was so scared to get it done. Dr. Goodhand was the surgeon who did my surgery. He was so kind, caring and did and excellent job for my surgery. I'm so sorry for the families loss of such a wonderful human being. - Posted by: catherin (Patient) on: Aug 21, 2025

  • I met Tom through Creative Retirement Manitoba where he was a student and I was staff. A kind, gentle soul who was very interested in planes. He took me for a ride in his Cardinal and let me fly it for a bit - I'll never forget that or him. - Posted by: Richard Denesiuk (friend) on: Oct 17, 2020

  • My family and I fondly remember Dr. Goodhand and his family from growing up three houses away on Wolseley in the 1960s and 70s. My dad had a special kinship for Tommy, since they both worked at the Abbott Clinic. We all remember having fun along the riverbank. We are sorry for your loss, but glad that your father lived such a long and happy life. - Posted by: Francis Newman (former neighbour) on: Sep 01, 2020

  • Dr. Goodhand was our family doctor (my grandma, parents, siblings and me for well over 30 years) at the Abbott Clinic. He was a very calm and gentle man and kept us in the best of health with such an easy manner and always a joke or two. As a surgeon he operated on all of us at one time or another and we were always confident and comforted under his care. I was sad when he retired but knew he must have saved many lives during his storied career. It was wonderful to read now about his love of flying and sports (I knew he was an award winning curler) and travel adventures even to his final weeks. To all the Goodhand family, you can be proud of your father and his life lived well. I am thankful to have known him. Peace to you all. - Posted by: Darryl Pokrant (Former Patient) on: Aug 23, 2020

  • I've literally known Tom all my life, and would be hard pressed to think of a time that he didn't put a smile on my face. Great friend to my parents (including taking my mom out for milkshakes just this past spring). Had the pleasure of hunting, fishing and flying with him. A true gentle man. He will be missed. - Posted by: Don Gyles (Long time family friend) on: Aug 21, 2020

  • I had the pleasure of playing against Tom the past couple of years at the Tamarack golf tournament at Clear Lake. We shared many laughs and stories while Tom was trimming me in our match. He loved his time at tournament with his family. You are in my prayers - Posted by: Steve Drummond (Acquaintance ) on: Aug 19, 2020

  • I was fortunate to have played against Tom the last couple years in the Tamarack golf tournament in Clear Lake. We shared a lot of laughs and stories all while Tom was trimming me in our matches. Tom spoke so proudly about his family and the special times shared at Clear Lake. Your in my prayers - Posted by: Steve Drummond (Acquaintance ) on: Aug 19, 2020

  • We are all going to miss Tom at Saint Vital and the Granite. Always enjoyed playing a game where he was a competitor and sometimes having a bite to eat and some conversation after. He was a true gentleman . - Posted by: David Morrison (Curling friend) on: Aug 19, 2020
