Condolences & Memories (5 entries)
We have so many fond memories of Betty. She was a wonderful neighbour. I learned so many gardening tips from her and it was always a delight when I found a new plant in one of my flower beds or a bag of fresh veggies hung on the door. Our sincere condolences to the family. Her big smile and kindness will be missed. - Posted by: Barb & Marlin Vanrobaeys (Friends) on: Sep 08, 2020
I remember Betty from my childhood when our families both attended the Lena Mennonite Church. Our families became friends and we children spent many hours playing together after church. Betty always had a big smile and an optimistic bright spirit even during times of difficulty. Although almost 3 years older and two grades ahead of me, she was my roommate for the first year at the boarding school we attended at Gretna (the MCI). As i subsequently moved to Toronto, we did not see each other for many years but when we did we had an instant connection. My heartfelt condolences to all members of her family for the loss of a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. - Posted by: Hildegard Martens (Friend) on: Aug 21, 2020
I will always remember the day I met Betty at a community event when we were still preteens and I was new to the community and feeling lonely. I knew right away that I had met a friend. It was before iphones and modern ways of staying connected and we both lived a long way apart on prairie farms but over our lifetimes we reconnected from time to time and I had the privilege of being a bridesmaid at her wedding. I still treasure that friendship. I also will never forget the clear strong sound of Betty's voice in the country church choir that our families attended. Dear Betty , Rest in peace and Thank you! - Posted by: Helga Martens Enns (Friend) on: Aug 21, 2020
