MARGUERITE FRANCES JOHNSTON
(COLEMAN)
She will be missed by her three daughters, Linda, Sharon (Frank) and Gaylene, sister Mae, nieces, Wendy and Paula, nephew Joe and families. She was predeceased by her husband Howard and son-in-law Allan.
Marguerite was born at St. Boniface Hospital and spent her cherished childhood in Darlingford, Manitoba. Over the years, she enjoyed nothing more than sharing a fond memory of that time in her life.
At 18, Marguerite began pursuing her dream of becoming a teacher. She taught in the one-room school houses of Croydon, Calf Mountain, Floral, Pembina and Copperfield. She made lasting relationships with her students and their families.
During her time teaching in the Pilot Mound area, she met and married Howard and moved to the family farm where they raised their daughters. After many enjoyable years on the farm, Howard and Marguerite moved to the town of Pilot Mound where they looked forward to a well deserved retirement.
Marguerite had a great love of travel which took her to many destinations in Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, Mexico and Europe. She also found great pleasure in meeting up with her treasured friends for a meal and lots of laughs. Her many other loves included animals, music, picnics, shopping for the perfect outfit and all things made of chocolate.
Marguerite will be remembered for her kindness, generosity and friendliness she never missed a chance of making a new acquaintance.
We would like to thank the care providers who helped support our mother during her later years spent residing in Winnipeg, including the staff at Pembina Place Personal Care Home. We would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and staff at St. Boniface Hospital for their care and compassion.
According to her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.
If so desired, donations in Marguerite's
memory may be made to the
Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3T 0R3.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I have fond memories of your mom even though later in life. Always talking about her teaching in school. And offering me connections to travel.. Someone is your family works in a travel agency, or a friend of moms, perhaps? Her voice so kind always saying thank you and complimenting me. Just a heart of gold. I will miss her dearly. The devotion you all had for your mother. Words cannot describe. Hugs to all of you, Linda, Sharon and Gaylene. Thinking of all of you during this very difficult time. Take care - Posted by: Marnie Singer (Friend) on: Aug 22, 2020

I'm sorry to hear that Marguerite has died. I remember her from her visits, along with Howard, at my parents' home on the farm near Roland, MB and from a few times that I accompanied my parents when they visited her and Howard at their farm near Pilot Mound. Howard, a close friend and a "Johnston" cousin of my father, was Best Man at his wedding. Marguerite and my mother became very good friends so there was always a lot of laughter and talk about shopping during those visits! Best wishes and sincere condolences to you and your families. - Posted by: Murray Sloane (Family Friend) on: Aug 22, 2020
