JOHN (IVAN) BORIS PROKIPCHUK
July 13, 1939 August 15, 2020
John was predeceased by many relatives and friends including his parents, Lena and Dymtro Prokipchuk, brothers, Bill, Walter and Vincent, and Carmel, the mother of his children. Left to mourn his passing are daughters, Diane McDonald (Don) and their son Jesse, Connie Grant (Robin) and their daughter Jayda as well as stepson John Matchett (Lorie) and his children, Jeremy, Mike, Jennifer and their families together with his sisters, Stella Sciberras, Anne Faykes and Sonya Meneer (Wayne), brother Jack and sister-in-law Irene along with nieces and nephews.
John, or Ivan as he was known by many, had an unwavering sense of humour, friendly disposition, optimistic, trusting and generous nature. His love of gardening was evident by the bounty that he shared for so many years. His door was always open as John enjoyed socializing and entertaining. He was always willing to lend a hand whenever needed. John lived his life on his own terms.
Born in Stuartburn, he grew up on the farm near Vita, MB. He later lived in Grande Pointe, then Trantham where he did mixed farming and road construction until 1967 when the family moved to St. Boniface, MB, which would be his home for the next 50 years. At the time of his passing, he resided at River East Personal Care Home. For the majority of his working years he was employed at Supercrete/Lafarge.
Due to Covid-19, a private family Celebration of Life and interment was held at Glen Eden.
Rest in Peace Dad, your pain,
helplessness and suffering is over.
We will all miss you until we meet again.

Deepest sympathies to all the family on the passing of Ivan. My memories of him go back many years to being a very small boy playing hide/seek with Ivan. At the insistence of his mother that he go outside to play the game with me; he buried himself under a pile of leaves and waited for me. Jumping out of those leaves terrified me; running back to the house. His mother was not impressed. A story which seems like a lifetime ago. Our paths did cross more often when his parents were still alive and Uncle Jack. My mother (Katie Arseny) age 97 from the Emerson Care Home is Ivan's last surviving aunt from the Prokipchuk side of the family. She passes on her sympathy as well. - Posted by: Wayne Arseny (cousin) on: Aug 26, 2020
