ELAINE BROWN
Elaine Romanow was born July 3, 1945, and grew up on the family farm in Montmartre, SK. The "Paris of the Prairies" which was well suited for such a stylish lady. Mom would often tell us stories of life on the farm and we often say this is where we get our strong work ethic and family values. She was often found milking cows before and after school for the cream money that would help purchase clothes for the family. Mom was the youngest daughter in a family of nine children and had a happy childhood. Mom often spoke of her loving mother who would shape her entire life and prepare her for raising her own family.
Elaine met her husband at a dance and married the love of her life, Barry (Brown) on September 5, 1964. Mom attended Business College and worked at a construction company in Regina. Barry took a transfer to Winnipeg in 1972, with their first child, Steven. Within the next four years she had her son Grant, and her twin daughters, Celeste and Selena. Mom loved to talk about those days when she had four children under the age of four. Elaine loved being a mother and was very loving to her children. Mom didn't have a mean bone in her body and raised her kids to make their own choices and mistakes.
Mom had a flair for fashion and an eye for style. She enjoyed a career in the interior design industry and was an entrepreneur; starting many of her own businesses, whether it be selling cosmetics and jewelry. Mom would often have personal consulting requests for her opinion on design choices.
Mom enjoyed getting together with, family, friends or neighbours. Summer vacations were spent back at the family farm, BMX racing, or camping.
Elaine cherished life and shared love with everyone she met along the way. Elaine leaves behind her sons, Steven (Trista) and Grant (Darlene), and daughter Selena; grandchildren, Jessica, Angela, Joshua, Juliano, Lauren, Samantha, and Anne. Also left mourning are many friends and relatives across Canada and the USA.
Elaine was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Barry (2008), her daughter Celeste (2016), and her infant granddaughter Tabitha (2006). Also by her sisters, Connie and Betty, brothers, Alex and Edward, and brothers-in-law, Fred and Joe. Barry and Elaine shared a loving life together and now they can be together again. Elaine will also be reunited with her daughter, loving parents, grandparents, sisters and brothers.
A family memorial and burial will take place at the Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church in Candiac, SK.
In lieu of flowers or donations, celebrate life and embrace it with kindness.
Be at peace Mom, we love you to pieces.
May God welcome Elaine
into His loving arms
May she soar with the angels
May her memory be eternal

I was attracted to Elaine from the moment we met. We had moved away from Winnipeg long ago. But Elaine and I would enjoy seeing each other almost every time I came Back to visit family. These visits were facilitated by TRista and Steve . We had mutual interests in many areas. We had similar health issues in our lives that also united us. It was always a pleasure to see her. - Posted by: Nancy and George Hamilton (Our daughter, TRista, married Elaine’s son, Steve) on: Aug 25, 2020

On behalf of myself, my Dad (Brian LaPlante), and my brother (Jeff LaPlante), we extend our sincere sympathy on the death of your mom, Elaine. I remember our families getting together when our Dads worked together, and your mom was always so kind and welcoming. My mom did enjoy meeting her for lunch when they were both healthy. Elaine always 'had it going on' as her outfits and jewellery were always stunning! Hoping the wonderful memories of your amazing mom fill your minds and warm your hearts and help you through difficult times. Thinking of you. - Posted by: Kelly Dowling (LaPlante) (Friend) on: Aug 25, 2020

On behalf of myself, my Dad (Brian LaPlante), and my brother (Jeff LaPlante), I am sending our sincere and deepest condolences. We are so very sorry to hear about Elaine. I recall our families getting together frequently when our Dads worked together and Elaine was so genuinely kind and welcoming. She 'had it going on' that's for sure -- she always wore the best outfits and coordinating jewellery!! I know my mom, Gail, enjoyed meeting her for lunch when they were both healthy. May your memories of your amazing mom fill your minds and warm your hearts and led you through. Thinking of you. ❤️ - Posted by: Kelly Dowling (LaPlante) (Friend) on: Aug 24, 2020
