CARMELLE JOUNOT
(nee MOQUIN)
August 28, 1952 – August 30, 2020

It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Carmelle, on August 30, 2020. Carmelle left us too soon after a courageous and inspiring battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully, at home, with her family by her side.
Mum was the most caring, fun, "don't mess with my family" kinda lady who never put herself first. Her love of Mexico, cottage life, and entertaining was always shared with friends and family as she was always planning the next get together with great food and wine. This gift of gathering friends and loved ones will be her legacy, and nothing would make her happier than all of us carrying that legacy forever forward.
Carmelle will be so very missed by the love of her life Bernie, her kids, Rob (Megan) and Brigitte (Paul), and especially her four grandkids who were her reason and inspiration to fight so very hard. Carmelle is predeceased by her father Denis Moquin, mother Yvette Moquin (nee Brown), sister Denise, and brother Andre. We love you Mamie, and you will always be in our thoughts, and forever in our hearts.
The family will be hosting a private celebration of Carmelle's life, but only once they are able to safely do so in the style and atmosphere that Carmelle would have wanted.
Please email celebratecarmelle@gmail.com to be added to the guest list and to receive details when the time comes.
In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that you please consider a donation to the WRHA Palliative Care sub-program fund by calling 204-515-5612. We are very thankful to the dedicated nursing staff whose compassion, understanding, and expertise carried us through Carmelle's final days.

  • If I am all too-honest at card games today, it has certainly been influenced by Carmelle. When I was about 9 or 10 I was playing Canasta with her at the lake and she went out first. I tried to sneak my jacks down on the table after it was too late, and she was unimpressed. Although she never made me pick them up, she flashed me a look that I never forgot. The guilt of those 30 unearned points is one of the good lessons from my youth that she taught me at the lake. Merci!! - Posted by: Pit & Julie Turenne (Family friend) on: Sep 05, 2020

  • Carmelle was a very dear sister to my brother-in-law Gerald. I remember Carmelle as a person who enjoyed entertaining and sharing food with others. I experienced her as a no-nonsense, take me as I am type of person with a big heart and a great sense of humour. Although I didn't see you often Carmelle, I will miss you. My condolences to you Bernie, Rob and Megan, Brigitte and Paul as well as Carmelle's beloved grandkids. - Posted by: Deanne André (extended family ) on: Sep 05, 2020

- Posted by: Paul Dubé (old friend from the St B College) on: Sep 05, 2020

  • So sorry for your loss, she was a beautiful woman. At one time in my life, she treated me like I was one of her own, understanding and so much compassion. With regret, I wish I could've spent more time with her. She was truly the greatest, sweetest person I ever knew. Love you heart n soul Aunty. Till we meet again.
