Wally passed away peacefully on Monday, August 31, 2020, with his beloved wife, Mary, of 56 years by his side.
He is survived by his daughter, Anita (Greg) Phelps; his son, John; brothers-in-law, Bill (Ila) of Lethbridge, Steve (Marilynn) of Calgary; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins across Canada, United States and France. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Catharina Mysyk; sisters, Anne Wach and Ollie Rohatyn.
Wally was born in Eatonia, Saskatchewan on May 24, 1935. He lived on a farm in Saskatchewan with his parents, and then went to Winnipeg to University of Winnipeg, before joining his parents in operating their hotel in The Pas, Manitoba. Then they all moved to Lethbridge to operate the Arlington Hotel. Walter met Mary in Lethbridge, where they raised their family. The family then moved to Sioux Narrows where they operated their fishing lodge for years until retiring. Wally loved to work with his hands, doing woodwork or just fixing things. He enjoyed hunting, travelling, playing the accordion, and helping his son, John, getting his property upgraded.
A funeral service will be held by invitation due to the current circumstances of Covid-19. A private interment will take place at a later date at Glen Lawn Cemetery.
