CLAIRE (NEPOM) KIVES
October 5, 1930 - September 3, 2020

The only daughter of Abraham and Shaintsa Nepom, Claire Kives was born and raised in Dauphin before moving to Winnipeg, where she worked for what is now known as Indigenous Affairs. She met Joe Kives in 1981 and soon married the love of her life. She remained by Joe's side until his death in 2012.
Claire was devoted to her brother Jacob and her nieces and nephews, whom she loved as her own children. She spent endless hours with Joe's grandchildren. She is survived by her stepson Raymond (Barbara) Kives, nieces, Allyne (Michael) Nepom and Leslie (Steve) Igel, nephew Michael (Shari) Nepom and step-grandchildren, Ronni, Cheryl, Bartley, Sari (Allen) and Michael (Lydia) Kives, Stephanie (Anthony) Paikin and Reagan (David) Macklin, as well as great-nieces, great-nephews and step-great-grandchildren.
Many thanks to the devoted and vigilant staff at the Simkin Centre, who cared for Claire.
A graveside service is slated for 1:00 p.m., Sunday, September 6 at Hebrew Sick Cemetery, 2605 McPhillips St.
Donations in Claire's name may be made to the Simkin Centre.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Penny and I send sincere condolences to the Kives family. I was fortunate at one time to rent an office from her step-son Raymond and I remember her coming, with her husband, Ray's dad, Joe, to visit Raymond. Often they'd come early afternoon. I'd come back from lunch, Joe would be in discussing business with Raymond and I'd find Claire in the waiting room, sitting ram rod straight, hands folded, resting on her hand bag, awaiting Joe's return. To be clear, she'd not been left out of the meeting so much as she'd rather the men folk do whatever it was they had to do and she was happy letting them to it. I enjoyed my visits with her and what I remember best was, when Joe came out, how her whole attention focused on him, making sure his coat was properly buttoned --- it always was, but he didn't mind being fussed over a bit, --- and off they'd go together. May her memory be for a blessing. - Posted by: Sheldon M Bowles (Family friend ) on: Sep 05, 2020
