MARGARET ANNIE RICKNER
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Iona Wachal, her beloved husband, John Rickner, and her beloved son, Frank (Todd) Rickner.
Mom loved Winnipeg and Grand Beach, which is where she met our father, and where the family spent many happy summers. She spent many years working at Eaton's Department Store and loved every moment of her time there.
During our childhood she took care of not only her boys, but also both our maternal and paternal grandmothers who, at different times, lived with us. Not to be outdone in the baking department, she found time in the evenings to enroll in a baking class. Her chair was always surrounded with knitting/crotchet projects, a crossword book, and the latest book she was enjoying.
She will be fondly remembered for loving all dogs and remaining committed to her Irish heritage. In 2008 she realized her dream of visiting her parents' birthplace in County Monaghan, Ireland. Her lifelong friendships with schoolmates, neighbours, the "Sewing Circle", and her extended family were of great significance and happiness to her during her entire life. We wish to pay special tribute to those friends she held dear to her heart - Violet Simms (Winnipeg), Tom Nichol (Winnipeg), and Marion Washington (Ottawa).
Our mother had a noble and remarkable spirit and unique sense of humour. She possessed a way of telling a story that would have the entire room in gales of laughter. She left an indelible impression on her three boys and all who had the pleasure of her company.
Per our mother's request, she was cremated and no service will be held.
She will be in our hearts and memories forever. Rest in peace Mom.

My memories of Auntie Margaret will always be in my heart. As a child I remember the gang who were close friends to my family and how the women would get together for sewing club. My thoughts and prayers go out to you (Ken and Doug) but I know she is up there with your dad looking down at you guys knowing that they raised some awesome men. She will be missed. - Posted by: Linda Karpyshin (neice) on: Sep 12, 2020
