DOLORES BUCCINI-SMYKALSKI
November 14, 1958 - September 9, 2020
Left to cherish her memory is her husband Larry; daughters, Amber (Bryce) and Samantha (Justin); sons, Tristan (Marie-Josée) and Christopher (Katie); her grandchildren, Peyton, Aubrey, Kiera and Casey; mother Angelina; sister Penny (Greg); nephew Ryan; niece Amanda (Mike); great-nephew Reign; and numerous cousins, and friends. Dolores was predeceased by her father Gino, stepfather Gus, and her beloved grandson Ben.
Dolores was loved by many, and was without a doubt a force to be reckoned with. She was a devoted wife and mother, who worked tirelessly for her family. Nothing made her happier than spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there will be a private family service. We invite those who wish to honour Dolores to live stream the service on the Holy Rosary Church YouTube page at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 17.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Dolores' memory may be made to The Children's Hospital Foundation.

Dolores was our nana dee, She helped me raise my son, she worked for us for almost 9 years, all night shifts. This woman’s presence in my home was a source of comfort and we were lucky to have her. Dolores was the most stubborn woman I had ever met! And that’s a compliment in my world! I don’t know if I will ever find words to describe my relationship with her, though I do know we both loved each other a lot. My son Jacob loves his Nana dee and her baby talking, Italian lullaby Singin, back running ways. She was a light in our world. I never could get her to listen though! And I was so grateful when her children came out to Ab to collect her. I had been telling her to go home for over a year! I am glad she got some time at home with her family before she slipped away. Her children and grandkids were everything. May God bless you and sleep you Nana until we met again. - Posted by: Ali Martens (Employer ) on: Sep 18, 2020

Penny, I am deeply saddened to hear the news of the loss of your sister. Although, it has been a very long time since I last seen Dolores, I thought of you and her often over the years, and the fun times we had growing up on Mulvey Ave. My most sincere condolences to you and your family. - Posted by: Dianne Reimer (Childhood Friend) on: Sep 13, 2020

I "adopted" Dolores' son T.J. after having him serve me for a few years at the Gort dining room and he invited me to his grad and that's where I met Dolores and Larry. She invited me to the grad party. I have never felt so welcome into a family not my own. I met the rest of the family of course and all made me feel like a part of the family. She was wonderful woman I came to love for her warmth and caring. She will be missed and I will hold memories of her in my heart. I offer my sincere condolences to all of her family that I came to know, including Nana Buccini. - Posted by: Gord Richardson (Family Friend) on: Sep 13, 2020

Me and my boyfriend had the chance to meet Dolores in Alberta a few years ago. She’s been so welcoming and generous to share her home with us when we had nowhere to live. She’s been like a mom for us and I’ll always remember her... Such a wonderful woman ... I am sincerely sorry for your loss. Karine & Mathieu - Posted by: Karine Paradis (Friend) on: Sep 13, 2020

I remember as a very young kid sitting at your kitchen table eating every kind of pasta known to man listening to you telling me I need to find a good woman with lots of money haha.. A memory I laugh about every time and reminds me about how much of a loving woman you were. Your house was always warm and welcoming to me, you always asked how I was and always thought I never ate, so I needed to eat there. You were such an amazing mother and woman, I will never forget the laughter and joy you brought my mom and I every time we saw you. - Posted by: Derek Allard (Third son) on: Sep 13, 2020

I am so saddened to hear of Dolores’ passing. I met Dolores right after she graduated from her legal assistant course when we started working together. We became friends, our kids played when they were little but unfortunately we lost contact. What a fun, bubbly and wonderful mother she was. Angie and family I am so sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Sharon Evans (co-worker and friend) on: Sep 12, 2020

To Mrs. Buccini, so shocked to hear about Dolores. I don't know if you remember me but my family used to order from your store on Selkirk Avenue for many years. We lived on Flora Avenue right across the street from the school Dolores and I attended. We were pretty good friends in grade 8 and would spend time together a lot at each others homes. I still have a picture of her and I at my 13th birthday party on my front lawn. We used to tell people we were cousins because we had the same kind of long, wavy hair. I thought and talked about her many times in the past years. I remember seeing you at the meat department at Mall Foods and asked about her and how she was doing. My whole family knew her and we all thought of her as a good friend of the family. So sorry for the family. I will always think of her and our happy days together. - Posted by: Valerie Antonation (School mate and childhood friend) on: Sep 12, 2020

Dolores and Penny lived across the street from us. My sister Monica and Dolores were very close. Ran into Dolores a few years back, was so great to see her. This is very sad news indeed. My thoughts are with everyone who loved her. - Posted by: Walter Jaeschke (Childhood friend) on: Sep 12, 2020

So sad to hear. Delores had such a profound impact on our lives as Jacob’s caregiver and friend to our whole family. Her wonderful attitude and wisdom and work ethic were always an inspiration. She will hold a special place in our hearts forever. Bless all those she leaves behind...the world will go on, but won’t be the same without her. - Posted by: Jacob and Jim Martens (Friends ) on: Sep 12, 2020
