It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Valerie Monica Walding (nee Hutton.
Val was predeceased by her beloved husband of 50 years Jim Walding in 2007.
She is survived by her two sons, Andrew, Phillip (Lori); daughter Christine; granddaughters, Kimberly (Jean-Paul), Rachel; and great-granddaughters, Lexus and Sienna. Val is also survived by her sister Jean-Mary of Hereford, England.
Val was born in Cheltenham, England and immigrated to Canada with her husband in 1961, where she fit in quite nicely accept for her dislike of the long cold winters. Val and Jim started their family in 1963.
She was involved in the provincial political scene starting in 1968, where she was not afraid of her voice to be heard.
During the mid to late 1980s Val and Jim moved to British Columbia to retire. Unable to settle they decided to open a bed and breakfast. While Val also started pursuing a career in the fragrance department at Sears. After the birth of their first grandchild they decided to move back to Winnipeg. Val continued selling fragrances and made many lifelong friends. Val loved to socialize, sing and host dinner parties. She was loved and respected by many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A small private service will be held at a later date.

Mark-Cuss and I looked forward to our visits with Valerie on Thursdays, unfortunately with the onset of COVID we then had to visit virtually.
