WALTRAUD GISELA KENNEDY

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother, Waltraud (Wally) Gisela Kennedy (Dee), on Sunday, September 6 , 2020, in Winnipeg.
Wally will be sadly missed by her son Christopher (Terri) and her daughter Robyn (Clayton), along with her grandchildren, Mikyla, Ty; Carter, Owen and Kyrsten.
Wally was born in Germany in 1948 and immigrated to Canada with her family in 1951. She grew up in East Kildonan and spent her summers in River Hills, MB on her grandparents' farm. Wally was a teacher in the River East School Division until her retirement in 1988. Wally, an avid fan of the arts, enjoyed theatre productions, musicals and the ballet. She, herself, was a gifted artist and loved painting landscape scenery with good ole Bob Ross as her guide.
Cremation has already taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Kildonan Personal Care Home where Wally resided for 18 years.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the MS Society of Canada, Manitoba Division.

  • I am so sorry to hear of Wallys passing. My condolences to the family. - Posted by: JOHN KENNEDY (Friend) on: Sep 22, 2020

  • My husband has been a neighbour to Wally at Kildonan for some time. From his first week on , he and Wally developed a special friendship. Whenever they met in the common areas they greeted each other with eye contact and a handshake, or he would offer a pat on the shoulder to Wally. I see that they were both teachers in their careers. There was a connection despite his advanced dementia. I was saddened when I saw her passing notice at the front desk. We will miss Wally. - Posted by: Dawn (Friend) on: Sep 20, 2020
