August was one of the first shuffleboard competitors when I started playing that made me feel comfortable and welcome (pretty sure he was still giving me advice just last season). He was funny and what I’d like to think, cut from a similar cloth as myself. He loved his family very much and I was blessed to spend some time with them on a couple of occasions. August will be remembered as a truly sincere person who was always a very competitive shuffleboard player but maintained friendly relationships with others. I shall miss his jovial attitude and sincerity and always think of August as a friend that I had the distinct privilege of knowing.
